The Neverending Story

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

After a nine month hiatus, The Neverending Story, the granddaddy of daily threads, has returned to Free Republic. Originally begun on March 24, 2001, as a religious discussion thread, the NES evolved over time into a daily thread spanning a wide variety of topics. The new and improved Neverending Story will feature conversation on religion, politics, culture, current events, business, sports, family, hobbies, general fellowship and more. We welcome you to hang your hat in our little corner of FR. We ask you to abide by the FR posting rules and, even in the midst of serious debate, to keep the discussion friendly and respectful. Those who wish to "duke it out" are asked to take it over to the Smoky Backroom. I placed this thread in "General/Chat" for a reason, so play nice and have fun! :o)

I have never asked a dead person to pray for me.

More's the pity.

Is this verse innerant or not? How many mediators do you think you need?

One mediator. Lot's of friends and family.

Now you answer. Have you ever asked anyone to pray for you?

No, I do not ask dead people like Mary to pray for me, and that is what we are discussing. You brought in friends and family.

One mediator. Lot's of friends and family.

What do you expect your friend's and family to accomplish with their prayers? What is their role? When your friend's and family pray for you, to WHOM are they praying?

Is it that you don't believe Mary is in Heaven or is it that you believe people in Heaven don't pray?

Got it! The Hot Tops is too '50s then. You need something with a more edgy, southern rock sound. How about AzzFault? :o)

"I've got a fever and the only cure is MORE COWBELL!"

One of the funniest and most bizarre skits ever. How did anybody ever get that idea?

You know what was on ESPN last night in lieu of Stanley Cup Playoffs?

Volleyball.

And not women's tiny-outfit beach volleyball.

Men's. College. Volleyball.

It's May, and the Pirates have a better record than the Yankees. So if Gavin's looking for a new team...

Remember a few months back when I mentioned that our ISP was going to provide us twice the bandwidth at half the cost on our new contract?

I got a call from SBC today, and they want to offer us the same service for 37% less! I asked them why the hell the didn't call me on this two months ago!

I'm happy with our provider, but next year when our contract comes up for renewal, I'm gonna make them match SBC's price.

There's always the Pirates. They might be bad, but they have to be better than men's college volleyball!

And how 'bout them Brewers?! Thanks to a seven game winning streak, they are now back over .500 at 14-13, and in sole possession of second place in the NL Central. And they are 13-8 against teams not from St. Louis. ;o) They're still getting creamed by the elite teams, but they are winning the games they should be winning against non-elite competition. Which makes them a middle-of-the-road team, which a heck of a lot better than the cellar dwellers they've been for years.

Man, the Yankees meltdown is something to behold. With $200M in payroll, you expect higher than a .379 winning percentage. Steinbrenner has got to be fuming.

Believe it or not, but the Pirates have the third-best road record in the National League.

Correction, make that 4th best; the Dodgers are a little better.
