The Neverending Story

After a nine month hiatus, The Neverending Story, the granddaddy of daily threads, has returned to Free Republic. Originally begun on March 24, 2001, as a religious discussion thread, the NES evolved over time into a daily thread spanning a wide variety of topics. The new and improved Neverending Story will feature conversation on religion, politics, culture, current events, business, sports, family, hobbies, general fellowship and more. We welcome you to hang your hat in our little corner of FR. We ask you to abide by the FR posting rules and, even in the midst of serious debate, to keep the discussion friendly and respectful. Those who wish to "duke it out" are asked to take it over to the Smoky Backroom. I placed this thread in "General/Chat" for a reason, so play nice and have fun! :o)

I haven't ever seen him referred to as Pope, like I have the others. I'm not sure he is considered one of the Popes.

I think there are 5 Popes. Who are the other two? Jerusalem? If the Roman Pope is first among equals regarding the others, are there 12? One for each of the Apostles?

Have you seen the latest opus?

These folks on the main forum have no earthly idea what a hard time posting really is, it just kills me to watch them pour their guts out about politics and whimper about how bad the forum has become. Hell 99% of them wouldn't even post on the religion forum back in the day, seen many of them comment that they wouldn't, simple fact is they would of gotten eaten up alive.

I carried it pretty well, I've always been solid. But I won't be sorry to see it go, just imagine... add one 50 bag of feed on the front and one in the rear and carry that around with you for a day or so and you'll see what I mean.

Yep, I've been following the saga. I think the difference with the latest blowup is how pervasive it became. In the seven years I've been here as a lurker and poster, I've seen times before when the level of vitriol has been this high, or almost so. But I've never seen it take over the entire forum the way it did.

I had the AC on yesterday. I just went downstairs and turned on the heat. The temperature in the house had dropped to 68°. Low of 32° tonight, after hitting 79° yesterday. Forecast low for Friday is 28°. Exactly why I've been holding off planting outside for a few weeks yet.

Well thats kinda my point, Its was that high of a level of vitriol from the beginning when we started posting the religious threads on FR and then morphed into the religious forum and it was HIGH years, and it not so unimportant that what we were talking about all along with the main topic of salvation was that the world and America was going to hell in a hand basked, but they/most just wouldn't enter the debate because it was so damn right on the mark, it scared the hell out of them that we might be right.

With the events that have happened lately the main forum is just now catching up to where we were 4 years ago and they can't even take it for a few months, I say they whine too much.

Y2K took over the forum, but for the most part it lacked the venom of the TS threads.

Oh yeah I've seen a bunch of folks say the forum has no focus like it had in the Clinton days and the 2000 election. No focus??? My ass. The dumb bastards are still trying to run from the real issues and find something safe again to "focus" on. The $hit has hit the fan, 30% of Americans don't feel safe from their government and they know its just not a conspiracy, its a damn fact. And 70% of Americans approve of this $hit!!!

If that don't give them enough to focus on I don't know what in the hell will. They need to stop bitching and start working out a plan to stop this mess we have to live in. Its doable. The Pope dying took it off the front burner, thats over and the main forum needs to put it back...this is a long way from over.
