After a nine month hiatus, The Neverending Story, the granddaddy of daily threads, has returned to Free Republic. Originally begun on March 24, 2001, as a religious discussion thread, the NES evolved over time into a daily thread spanning a wide variety of topics. The new and improved Neverending Story will feature conversation on religion, politics, culture, current events, business, sports, family, hobbies, general fellowship and more. We welcome you to hang your hat in our little corner of FR. We ask you to abide by the FR posting rules and, even in the midst of serious debate, to keep the discussion friendly and respectful. Those who wish to "duke it out" are asked to take it over to the Smoky Backroom. I placed this thread in "General/Chat" for a reason, so play nice and have fun! :o)

By the I die there will probably be a worldwide water shortage. Pittsburgers will be drinking water from a desalinazation plant. Dave will pop a Rolling Rock and drink a good part of me. Hoo!
She was and is an indoor cat as well. Our back yard is fenced off with the 6ft privacy fence so we take her out there in the afternoon while checking the gardens.
My son has a couple of tomato plants and a few others outside already.
I don't want her getting too used to the outdoors and trying to climb the fence, but I do think she gets a little more exercise by exploring the back yard.
We'd probably deslinate Lake Erie first, so that plan may not work.
And with all the iceburgs melting, you coast people will probably have more water than you can handle. Luckily, we'll all get rich selling our water to all the fools who go live in the desert.

We are using this dry food made by Eukanuba.
Our other cat eats both dry and wet food and he is fine. The previous owners said that she had never had table scraps. I did try twice and she wasn't interested. I wanted to see for myself. So I believe them.
They also said that she hadn't been given wet food. I'm considering weaning our other cat off the wet food and eventually switching him over to the same food, though he would get larger portions. We feed them in separate rooms and times, mostly because the one likes to be outside now that it is nice.
I read an article by a vet online that said cats are getting overweight because so many of the cat foods are high in carbs and low in protein and that since they are carnivores they need their protein which is why htey hunt birds and mice. Makes sense. It also said they should not lose more than half a pound per month. They can get some illness and die.
I know what you mean about them looking like racoons! lol Also, she ends up rolliong over sometimes when trying to take her bath! She seems to like the new food well enough. I've been introducing it into her previous brand gradually. Sounds bad I know, but I think its good. I think before she was just always eating and had never allowed herself to get hungry. So, I think she was just maintaining the status quo.
But, after a couple of days of portioning and spacing of her meals, I think she is actually getting hungry at times.
You know those caps they put on cough medicine bottles for measuring? One of those filled level with her dry food is one of her searvings right now. She doesn't quite eat one of those at her meals and I try to space her meals out every 3 or 4 hours. She should be getting two of those for each meal to lose weight, but I don't want the food to go stale, because I know she won't eat it all, yet. I think in time she will though. Twice today she ate her whole meal.
When I went to the Eukanuba site I was thinking, they need a before and after shot of some cat that lost weight on their diet cat food! I should take a picture of Cuddles and then after she loses (hope she does) take another! Did you do that with your cat?
I recall you had cats before. Do you have any cats at your new home?
You must be closing in on your one year annivesary at the new house.
Do you suppose they bury all those boxes that consecrated hosts arrive in? In a respectable manner of course.
That's pretty good! Did you just think of that?
We didn't take "official" before and after pictures, but there are some around somewhere of her at both stages.
No cats in the new house. Which I why I am actually able to have indoor plants! We decided it would be better to keep the cats together, since they were accustomed to each other's company. I have to say, I don't really miss them. I never wanted more than two cats, and now she's up to four cats, a dog, a mouse and a guinea pig. I guess I just got more than my fill of having them around.
Good memory! I moved in here 3/31/04. Hard to believe it has been over a year already!
You mean the actual boxes or packing materials they are shipped in? I wouldn't think so. The host isn't "consecrated" at the factory, but rather in the church. When it is shipped it is, even in Catholic eyes, simply a wafer of wheat. I believe all consecrated hosts are saved for future masses and eventually eaten.
That's pretty good! Did you just think of that?
I did! ;o)
Whatever housed the host.
Pre-consecrated hosts

It occured to me that when you were looking for homes and moved that there was still snow on the ground but that we were close to spring. One year anniversary and you didn't have an online housewarming party.
My mistake. I really could have used that fondue pot. :o)
I also once gave a baby shower through the mail. It was in the middle of winter and almost everyone would be at least an hour's drive away. I got a lot of positive feedback on that, too. Sometimes, ya just got to think of an alternative way to do things! lol
So, what types of flowers (bulbs/seeds) did you plant so far? My crocus are pretty much done, the hyacynth are in bloom, daffodils in bloom and my multi blooming tulips are in bloom as well.
Uh, no. From the home page of that link:
THE HOME TEMPLE PRIESTHOOD
HOME STUDY TRAINING AND PREPARATION FOR ORDINATION OF WOMEN AND MEN INTO VALID INDEPENDENT APOSTOLIC ORDERS
Whoever this is, it is neither Catholic nor Orthodox. So there is no "consecration" going on, no matter what they think. Nobody who believed in a true consecration would ship via UPS.

No, and not the kitchen either. Didn't you see "Meet the Parents"? The urn was on the mantle when Ben Stiller opened the Champagne bottle, the cork flew over and hit the urn, the urn splilled on the floor, and the cat peed in the ashes.
Story for ya. My parents live in Minnesota half the year and Colorado half the year. My mothers' funeral was in Colorado and her burial will be in Minnesota in June. The ashes are in a closet in Colorado waiting for the burial. When asked where he wanted to keep the ashes my father answered he wanted them in the backyard shed. My sisters freaked out and told him they wouldn't allow mom in the shed. I kinda don't blame him tho. It would be erie sleeping in a house with your wife's ashes in the closet.
Well, I've got everything I need, but 'virtual' gifts are always welcome. You can post an image of a housewarming gift to me, if you'd like. ;o)
So, what types of flowers (bulbs/seeds) did you plant so far?
My tulips are coming up right now, but the flower buds have yet to open. Other perennials are also starting to peek out. I haven't planted anything out-of-doors yet, though. Despite the above-normal temperatures, we're still a good month away from safe planting.
Interesting! Sounds like a temporary deal, though. If they decide to stick with the 30-packs, they'll buy and install their own equipment to do it onsite.
We scattered her ashes upon the earth in a section of the cemetary reserved for Unitarians. There is a massive boulder on this site on which the names of the deceased are engraved. Nothing else, just the name.
Some may think this disrespectful. I don't. I think it was beautiful. She was never in that little urn - just her ashes. I believe she left for another place the moment she "died" and what was left behind was an empty shell.
