The Neverending Story

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

After a nine month hiatus, The Neverending Story, the granddaddy of daily threads, has returned to Free Republic. Originally begun on March 24, 2001, as a religious discussion thread, the NES evolved over time into a daily thread spanning a wide variety of topics. The new and improved Neverending Story will feature conversation on religion, politics, culture, current events, business, sports, family, hobbies, general fellowship and more. We welcome you to hang your hat in our little corner of FR. We ask you to abide by the FR posting rules and, even in the midst of serious debate, to keep the discussion friendly and respectful. Those who wish to "duke it out" are asked to take it over to the Smoky Backroom. I placed this thread in "General/Chat" for a reason, so play nice and have fun! :o)

You paid 60 dollars for a hotel room?

Yeah. It's about $75 with taxes and such. That's not so bad, considering it's about 3 miles from the world's largest transmission factory,

But that's the reality. A Hyatt near the airport will have 13 channels. The Comfort Inn will have 60.

The Hyatt probably wants you down in the bar drinking overpriced, watered-down drinks.

Think about that for a minute.

Why would someone who sells cars try to sell cars to the world's largest manufacturer of cars? That's like carrying coal to Newcastle.

I supply equipment used for measuring manufactured items. One, significant, client is GM. I help them make what they make, and to know exactly what it is they are making.

After many years of pursuing business, GM decided to release about $250,000 worth of spending last year. As long as it got spent by the end-of-year, before the money would disappear. Another $150,000 or so is pending for an order due by end-of-February. The boss here got Feb. declared, buedgetarily, 2004.

Big companies are weird. We're in the process of negotiating a large contract with the local facility of a major corporation. After the first draft of the agreement, they basically told us our bid was too low.

Nope, just the regular, 2-room thing.

If ya don't I can tell ya how to nag them into one for free.:)

I'm sure you can, thanks. I don't really see the need, or want the expense. Don't they charge you monthly for the thing? That's BS.

Seriously? LOL!

I'm just saying. It's odd how few convenience stores selling beer and whatnot are located next to the airport Hilton. I'm just saying. :-)

Its $5 bucks a month. And after you use it (its simple) you will never watch live TV again, you can let the kids put a peanut butter in the VCR cause you ain't never gonna look at that thing again.

If you don't have one you have NO idea what you have been missing.

I understand the attraction, but I can't see paying another bill. I do a lot of "time-shifting" and archiving stuf on TV. I just can't see paying for it. Yes, VCR's have their limitations, but I can't see paying for DVR service when I know they are making money off of using my viewing habits to the marketing people.

Someday, I will have one. I just can't see it yet.

Hit em high. :)

They like your Co or they never would of told you that, if your too high you can work it down till they agree and then you won't leave any thing on the table.

I mean when they throw ya a slow one right down the middle, ya gotta be thinking "Grand Slam" :)

You're not a "serious" candidate if your price is too low. You must be missing something.

Probably the hand-holding.

Remember to add in for any company the amount the "big business" purchasing agent will want to negotiatie off of the purchasing price.
