After a nine month hiatus, The Neverending Story, the granddaddy of daily threads, has returned to Free Republic. Originally begun on March 24, 2001, as a religious discussion thread, the NES evolved over time into a daily thread spanning a wide variety of topics. The new and improved Neverending Story will feature conversation on religion, politics, culture, current events, business, sports, family, hobbies, general fellowship and more. We welcome you to hang your hat in our little corner of FR. We ask you to abide by the FR posting rules and, even in the midst of serious debate, to keep the discussion friendly and respectful. Those who wish to "duke it out" are asked to take it over to the Smoky Backroom. I placed this thread in "General/Chat" for a reason, so play nice and have fun! :o)
Heheheh. Our pool is for the NCAA Tournament, not the NIT.
Oh, wait, they didn't get into the NIT, either. ;o)
LOL! Paleface insert moccasin into mouth, in heap big trouble? ;o)
Chose it for a reason. Either the body is a Temple all the time, or it isn't a Temple at all. It certainly isn't a Temple only when its dead!
Interesting thread over here
Poles want pope's heart buried in country
"We would like the heart of the greatest Krakovian and the greatest Pole to rest at Wawel (Cathedral)," Mayor Jacek Majchrowski was quoted as saying Monday by the Gazeta Wyborcza daily. "But the rules are set by the church and we will respect them."The heart of another great Pole, composer Frederic Chopin, rests in an urn in Warsaw's Holy Cross Church, although the rest of his body is buried at Paris's Pere Lachaise Cemetery.
How is having the body in one place and the heart in another any different than scattering?
I just thought it refreshing that our governor wasn't trying to be politcally correct for a change. :-)
I'm trying to figure out what might have given you the idea that I thought otherwise. We do not excuse one sin by pointing out similar sins others engage in.
How is having the body in one place and the heart in another any different than scattering?
Remind me not to ever ask you to scatter something. If the body is in one place and the heart in another, that is one thing. Having all the bits blown into the wind, irretrivably, is another.
For one thing, in the former case, you can still identify where the parts are.

As opposed to G-d not knowing?
I am very hopeful that a DVD of the proceedings during this week will be made available. I'm sure it would be very popular.
Surely. If the local newsteams make commemerative videos of big snowstorms, I think someone will capture this moment.

As I posted on the message board, I take some consolation in the fact that I did pick the most winners. :o)
dang man. you're taking us to the woodshed. Wish it were football cuz you'd just pick the steelers all the time and we'd have a half a chance. :-)
Better odds than that in the Championship game. ;-)

Nice! We've been in the 60s nearly every day in the last 10 days, with the exception of one day in the upper 50s, and one day in the lower 70s. This is more like it! :o)
Can't we not hear anymore whining about how cruel the media is to the "persecuted" Catholic Church? They've gotten a free ride nonstop 24/7 for the past week and a half and probably will continue for a couple more weeks. Every dubious doctrine brought up on any talk show goes unchallanged. The protestant or Jewish faiths would never
get this kind of a free ride.
The only place you're likely to find this sort of angst is on FR. I don't hear 'real world' Catholics complaining about the media coverage.
I think "real world" Catholics are able to gavitate to the coverage they like best. Those who think it's time for priestesses and homo-acceptance can watch CNN and the usual suspects there. Those more inclined to traditional teachings cane watch Fox or EWTN.
Personally, I wouldn't get too worried about the MSM coverage. They're kind of cute when they're this pathetic. Like they think they have a say in what is going to happen in the conclave.

Wait until Katie and Matt find out they don't have a vote. ;o)
