The Neverending Story

The Neverending Story

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

After a nine month hiatus, The Neverending Story, the granddaddy of daily threads, has returned to Free Republic. Originally begun on March 24, 2001, as a religious discussion thread, the NES evolved over time into a daily thread spanning a wide variety of topics. The new and improved Neverending Story will feature conversation on religion, politics, culture, current events, business, sports, family, hobbies, general fellowship and more. We welcome you to hang your hat in our little corner of FR. We ask you to abide by the FR posting rules and, even in the midst of serious debate, to keep the discussion friendly and respectful. Those who wish to "duke it out" are asked to take it over to the Smoky Backroom. I placed this thread in "General/Chat" for a reason, so play nice and have fun! :o)

Hope it passes us by completely. We have to go to Grand Valley State Univ. tomorrow for the science olympiad. I don't like driving in bad weather. :(

Sophia was born about 3 wks early, but was not small. She is the miracle baby, remember, mom has one ovariey, an dad had a vasectomy, (and it is his baby).

That is amazing! Sophia is a pretty name.

We call that a "big baby." ;-)

LOL, I'm sure! :o)

Congrats to your sister or brother.

It was my brother, the one whom I never thought would have children!

Congratulations! You didn't even tell us you were pregnant.

Shhhhh! Don't tell my brother... (Just kidding!)

She's my niece. :o)

Our son was smaller than your niece and was able to go home after a week. They were surpised because he never did lose any weight. They said that most babies lose a little right after being born.

Was she a C section or normal labor?

Isabelle is a pretty name.

Forecast for Grand Rapids is for rain/snow mix in the morning, changing to rain showers. They aren't talking about any significant accumulation there. But I'd keep an eye on the Weather Channel in case it changes.

C section. They had her scheduled for a C section on April 19th. Last week, she started have contractions, and they stopped them. She went in for her regular checkup yesterday, and was 2" dilated. After debating it for a while, the doctor decided to go ahead and do it right now rather than wait any longer.

The rain/snow mix could be worse than if we would just get snow. Sleet sucks.

Was she having problems that they scheduled her for a C section so early?

I had major problems all throughout mine and they never 'scheduled' me for a C section, even though they knew I would have to have one.

I'm just curious.

I'm not sure of the specific reasons, but she is quite small, so that may have been a factor.

Could be, they do take that into account. Glad everyone seems to be doing okay and are healthy!

Isabella beautiful. Congratulations to you and your family. I'll have pics of Liliah in about 5 weeks:') Going to Oklahoma in the morning to pick up her and her mom and big sister. They have been in Iowa . United won't let her fly. Gonna be a long trip with lots of stops. I wish she would have the baby there but nothing doing.

Stick around and meet some of the folks, they're mostly nice. We've discussed a wide variety of topics over the last few years.

Yes, I've noticed, a pretty nice thread. Sort of the "Open Line Friday" of Free Republic. 8-)

It has been my policy for years not to pick "Kan'tsas" to advance out of the first two rounds. I guess I'll have to add Kanzaga to my list of schools who perform poorly as a high seed.

Don't know if you got to watch the UW-Milwaukee/BC matchup yesterday, but it was one heck of a game. Of course, the officials called two fouls on UWM during pregame introductions... </sarcasm>. I've got to give UWM credit for maintaining an incredible level of intensity for a solid 40 minutes; it was an amazing performance. I read in this morning's paper that, after BC jumped out to an early 11-0 lead, the BC players started trash-talking. One of them apparently said, "I don't give a **** that you beat Alabama. This is the Big East." Oops! :o)

Also in our local paper, the players from Bucknell were quoted as giving the Wisconsin fans credit for sticking around after the Badgers win Friday night to cheer them on against Kansas. They said it made it feel like it was a home game. Hopefully this doesn't come back to bite us today!

Prove that I didn't. ;o)

It was part of my secret plot to keep you out of the NES NCAA tournament pool (which -- cough, cough -- I'm leading, BTW ;o) I don't need someone named "Mr. Lucky" messing up my game. :o)

Good to see you!
