My name is Mary Katherine, and I reside in the state of Ohio. I am a registered Republican. I grew up in a small town with very strict parents, attend church every Sunday, and have generally tried to live a good and decent life. I have been married for 15 years, have 3 children, and I am a stay at home mother. I am personally opposed to abortion, I believe in small government, and I cheered when welfare was overhauled. I am personally opposed to gay marriage, and I deeply believe this country needs to do more about the divorce rate in this country. My father was a steel worker who didn't miss a day of work in 35 years. My mother was a housewife. I still visit them regularly even though they live 5 hours away from me.
I think if you met me on the street or at the supermarket we would probably like each other.
However, everyone on this board hates my guts. I voted for John Kerry, so, therefore, according to you, I am a pig with no values.
I come here, desperately trying to understand why that is.
If you haven't stopped reading by now, maybe I could explain the reasons for my vote.
I am a fiscal conservative. I find W's reckless spending troubling.
I believe in religious freedom in this country. So therefore, just because I personally oppose abortion, how can I expect every American who does not share my faith to abide by that as well?
I believe in the Constitution. Therefore, even though I oppose gay marriage, if the constitution affords gay Americans certain rights, who am I to deny them?
Finally, I do not believe the war in Iraq was executed in the appropriate way. I do not support it in its current form.
So there it is. You all hate me for only one reason - the vote I placed on November 2nd. My only hope is that someday, somehow, you could all have a little less hate for those who don't share your beliefs. Thank you for reading this.
What do you make of John Kerry's own admission, from his own mouth,at the Congressional hearings way back, that he himself participated in murdering Vietnamese civilians? I guess that "that" murder was OK,after all, he was "sorry" and decided to "confess"(AFTER "confessing" on behalf of other veterans at the scene who disputed his account). I suppose a self-confessed murderer would be a much better choice than a man who lets the deficit not be a priority over the defense and security of our own nation, and one who would rather spend the money to keep our troops safe, rather than lower the deficit by putting them at risk. isn't it strange, that after decades of tax-and-spend policies by John Kerry and his ilk,on spurious "social programs" pandering to special interest groups, that all of a sudden, when the deficit in question rises under a Republican administration on behalf of protecting the troops that are risking their lives hourly in Afghanistan,Iraq, and other places, because of a war that was BROUGHT to us on our own shores via the bombing of the Twin Towers, the Pentagon, and another target that thanks to the heroism of everday Americans, was foiled, are all of a sudden "deeply concerned" about the deficit? when did they discover this "fiscal conservatism"? When they needed a stick to bash republicans and conservatives, and their own liberal message doesn't resonate with most Americans,so they've decided to co-opt and twist one of OUR policies?
Dan Rather:
Is it just me, or is Margaret Carlson's skirt tighter than an oil drum put together by the evil Halliburton cartel and their cronies in the U.S. House of Representatives?
(Cue music from Napoleon XIII.)
But I am deeply honored that my name popped up!
Anyone stupid enough to vote for him deserves pity, as it is obvious they have not fully developed as a thinking, rational human being.
I could no more hate you than I could hate a cow....hmmmmm...never mind, the similarity is obvious.....
One of the best articles against abortion I have ever read was written by a left leaning atheist for those and other reasons.
It isn't really a Christian issue, it is a human issue.
Another dishonest liberal who cannot engage in debate through fair means.
Can't we all just get along? She's dead Jim.
I am deeply saddened by this zot. :(
You got that right. You are fouling up a good site with your BS. There is not one veteran that loves America that could vote for that traitor, JohnfnsKerry. He hates a free America, he is for child murder (aka abortion), he lied to Congress, he hates the military, he refused to admit he had "a less than honorable" discharge and on and on. IMHO, he is lower than whale dung and you said you voted for him. There is no way you can be what you claim to be. Idiot.
Aren't we all? It is part of the fun of being a Republican. It is much easier to be mean when you know the facts and are arguing with a parrot.
Indeed. Here is a link to a collection of his articles.
