Ummmm, Auburn actually played the toughest schedule of any of the undefeateds. Their strength of schedule was number 9 in the country. As a Tennesseee fan I can tell you they whipped us twice. They were more deserving to go to the National Championship than Oklahoma, but the sportswriters were not going to let that happen again. LSU was in by a fluke last year, this year we're giving it to USC. All the while, no one considered giving OU the boot either year. OU is pathetic. The people that voted for Auburn aren't nutballs. The people who voted OU second are the ones whose bones you should be picking.
But, but, I keep hearing that the BCS worked?

So let's have the Steelers and Patriots play the Superbowl, and replace the NFL playoffs with just a bunch of bowl games. Then more teams can end the season with wins and their fans all happy, right?
Uh, Auburn did not play the toughest schedule. A schedule comprising of Louisiana-Monroe, The Citadel (D1-AA) and Louisanna Tech hardly qualifies Auburns schedule as tough.

You seem to presume the sportswriters are against Auburn. Why would they be?
And there lies the problem. Football aint a democracy! Until we have a playoff, there is NO real National Champion.
With that said, the only team to even come close to USC is Cal. USC is the best in the country, IMO.
Sagarin's computer rankings at USA Today put USC's schedule strength at 7th and Auburn's at 60th.
