And there lies the problem. Football aint a democracy! Until we have a playoff, there is NO real National Champion.

With that said, the only team to even come close to USC is Cal. USC is the best in the country, IMO.

There's a problem with that..you had 4 undefeated teams this year, so you figure that you could have a 4 team playoff..two rounds, right?..OK..what would have happened had Cal managed to win their last game?

You forget VA Tech and the zebra bailout.

Not to mention they didn't play Utah, Auburn, Texas, Ohio State, Michigan, Iowa, Wisconsin, Georgia, Tennessee, Florida State, Miami, Boise State, Louisville. If there were a playoff I'd be betting on USC winning it all, but the current system never removes all doubt as to who the best would end up being.

I think UCLA also took USC down to the wire before losing. And I think 1-10 Washington only trailed USC by 7-0 at halftime (before being blown out 38-0 in the second half).
