Good article, thanks.
GGG Ping.
I believe the Thunderbird automobile was named after a giant bird of prey from American Indian legend. Anyone know for sure?

With a 2.5-3m wingspan weighing in at between 10 and 14 kg, Haast´s eagle was about 30-40% heavier than the largest living bird of prey While these numbers do indicate an impressive bird...they are by no means as large as the eagles who save Sam and Frodo's toasted butts.

I seem to remember reading somewhere about a huge eagle that lived on the west coast of South America that was much larger, approaching the size of a small plane. They thought is went extinct because of the reduction of strong air currents that the bird required to get into the air. I think they were thought to feed on large fish. Sorry I can not remember more and even this is relying on faulty outdated data systems (my old noggin)

...approaching the size of a small plane. Must be the Roc of ancient legend.
