TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- Radio giant Clear Channel Communications has come under fire from women's health advocates over a Christmas contest in which stations granted breast enlargement surgeries to women in four cities.
In the "Breast Christmas Ever" contest, 13 women were awarded the procedure after writing essays to the stations explaining why they wanted larger breasts. A Tampa station claimed to receive more than 91,000 entries.
Clear Channel said it had nothing to do with the contest and that it was a decision by local station managers to hold the promotion. The contest was aired on Clear Channel stations in Tampa, Jacksonville, St. Louis and Detroit.
The contest has drawn the ire of both the National Research Center for Women & Families and the National Organization for Women. NOW has urged its supporters to file complaints with the Federal Communications Commission against Clear Channel and its stations.
The controversy comes within months of Clear Channel paying a record $1.75 million fine to resolve indecency complaints against New York-based shock jock Howard Stern, Tampa radio personality "Bubba the Love Sponge" and others. The station formally agreed to "clean up its act," FCC Chairman Michael Powell said in June.
Well, good genes do tend to help, that's certain. I don't know how optimistic I would be if I knew I was facing a long slong to get the baby weight off. I lose the weight rather easily, but as you know, being skinny and being in shape are two different things. :)
16 weeks...in a few weeks, we get to find out if we're finally going to have a girl! After four boys, I think I am ready for the change of pace, lol. I'll be satisfied with healthy, though. :)
P.S. I'm no hero, just a sucker for babies and lucky enough to be able to have them so easily. :)
FReegards...MUD
I loved baseball. I did coach little league for several years after my son established himself as a jock. I coached him every other year from 9 years of age until high school. He is a natural but never developed a true love for it. He stopped playing in his junior year and stuck to track and good grades. He now has his Masters Degree in Accounting and a great job.
Be optimistic.
There is an easier way.
But those look funny in the hot tub!
LOL. The power of positive thinking!!!
Believing is the first step to any successful endeavor!
Here in Detroit it was on 95.5 whose morning show is Mojo in the Morning.
Had this been Air America, there wouldn't be all this fuss over a breast enlargement contest from the leaders of NAG and other feminazi organizations.
Keep me posted on the status of yourself and your little one... I sure hope it's a girl. I'll bet if the baby is a little girl that she'll have 4 very protective big brothers. How fun!!
Now that is just plain ridiculous.
On a more serious note, society has made women feel like they are ugly if they do not have large breasts and a thin waist.
She's a Vegas show girl. Her act is to crawl onto the stage and then try to stand up.
Will do. :)
