Further, he was much loved by CS Lewis, the great Christian apologist and writer, as a friend and fellow member of the Inklings literary society. The character of Ransom in the CS Lewis Space Trilogy (Out of the Silent Planet, Perelandra, and That Hideous Strength) was modeled in part on JRRT. Happy Birthday, J. R. R.!!
He not only opened up the door to a new realm of literature, but to a whole new genre, GAMES; fantasy board games, and later, video and computer games.
