Welcome to FR.
Read Bernard Goldberg's book "Bias". It was an eye opener for me and it kind of woke me up to conservative thought. Not that Goldberg is necessarily a conservative, but he is objective enough to see the other side of liberalism.
It also made me realize while liberals like to make fun and ridicule the non-secular religous people in our land, that liberalism is its own secular religion. It is a belief system that defies rational thought.
Fox News has this annoying (to liberals) habit of presenting both sides of an issue. It has another annoying habit of not being politcally correct. It has another annoying habit of reporting ALL of the news. It has another annoying habit of reporting GOOD news on the Iraqi war. It has another annoying habit of putting the news in perspective. It has another annoying habit of...need I go on?
Nothing dies slower than bad ideas. There is none so blind as he who refuses to see, none so deaf as he who refuses to hear.
Because it's the only major news source that doesn't openly cheerlead for the Democrat party.
Let's say for the sake of argument that FOX is biased--then how come its straight reporting agrees with that of the Big Three? Answer: Because the hard facts ("Mr. X was shot today") are not in dispute, its interpretation that is in dispute (ABC will lean toward Maxine Waters's interpretation of the killing, FOX toward a conservative politician's). What the Big Three have been shopping around has been biased coverage but it's like an experiment without a control--you can't SEE it's biased until you see a DIFFERENT bias to compare it to.
The liberals hate FOX because it knocks their legitimacy out from under them--a legitimacy built on tainted news getting to the public without any dissenting view. We think FOX is a big deal now, but years from now, when they can stand back and better see the media landscape before and after its arrival, people will see just HOW revolutionary FOX is.
Liberal nuts: "The fact that Fox is always pointing out that liberals have an adverse relationship with the truth is proof of their bias."
Clear Channel owns Rush Limbaugh's contract. That's it. That is all that they are upset about. They will tell you it is because CC owns the most stations in America (Viacom is #2 with Infinity Broadcasting, and they don't bitch about CBS-MTV-Viacommie). They will tell you that CC is "conservative" yet when they took over Houston's talk radio station (950KPRC), they fired the local hosts, brought in some loud mouthed carpetbaggers, and management told Dan Patrick (who was part owner and former manager) to "lay off the God talk" as well as no talk of pending legislation (bill numbers, etc.). I don't see CC as "conservative"; not even in upper management. Dan's on the air now at 700KSEV (independently owned) and although he was one of the first station managers to pick up Rush's syndicated show, he'll never be able to buy the program now.
An executive officer from Fox News' parent company endorsed John Kerry. You will find many FReepers who don't find Bill O'Reilly to be conservative on every issue. I know that there are some libs on Fox News (if only to cover the counterpoint) but many liberal news/talk programs have no such "balance".
Fox News is to the right of USA Today, CNN, and the New York Times but that isn't saying much.
Welcome to FreeRepublic.com.The Libs hate FOX News because they DO give both sides of the issue.
That exposes them and the truth hurts!
Here's a little pic I put together last year.
How to Make a Guerrilla Documentary
(Liberal Campaign to smear FOX News)''Outfoxed'' has been made in secret. The film is an obsessively researched expose of the ways in which Fox News, as Greenwald sees it, distorts its coverage to serve the conservative political agenda of its owner, the media tycoon Rupert Murdoch. It features interviews with former Fox employees, leaked policy memos written by Fox executives and extensive footage from Fox News, which Greenwald is using without the network's permission. The result is an unwavering argument against Fox News that combines the leftist partisan vigor of a Michael Moore film with the sober tone and delivery of a PBS special. A large portion of the film's $300,000 budget came in the form of contributions in the range of $80,000 from both MoveOn and the Center for American Progress, the liberal policy organization founded by John Podesta, the former chief of staff for Bill Clinton; Greenwald, who is not looking to earn any money from the project, provided the rest.
A more important question is why do liberals love Al-Jazeera? I've actually seen the local Pacifica radio station sourcing news of an attack on Israelis from AJ (claiming that it was a gas leak, not a terrorist bombing).
Control Room made many libs' top 10 films of the year list.
Why the love affair? Because they hate America and share a common enemy.
Welcome to FR, even though you violated a cardinal rule: posting a vanity on the day you signed up. You can only get better...
Why do liberals oppose fox news? Probably because it allows another view point to be aired into the pseudo mainstream media. The more people hear the truth and common sense that is reality, the more they realize that liberal policies dont work. It is that simple.
