Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
I was tied up last night, doing a Norton reinstall. For some reason, it was not working right on this new PC. What a pain it was too.
Yeah - we'll keep him. He'd be a tough adoption case at his age, and he's been really a good match for Gidget. They are having a ball wrastling and moaning/grawlling at each other in the living room. It's actually sortof chaotic in here right now ;~D
That is so frustrating isn't it? I prefer Norton over McAfee but sometimes I want a telephone number where I can call someone and say - hey, do you think everyone who uses your program is a computer geek - say it in English please.
I've been watching the weather up there. I have a couple of other friends in the Northwest and then Gene Glasscock is headed that way.
The only fortunate thing I can say about our weather here is that city, county and state road departments are very good about plowing and sanding and MOST of the people on the road know how to drive in the stuff. 'Course this winter might send some new residents back to where they came from, it's not been a friendly one.
Oh yeah - I forgot abut him and wonder where he is now? We were going to try to see him when he was here.
The latest from his website - http://www.geneglasscock.org
Latest News (4th January):
HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all! Gene is in Eureka, California, traveling up Route 101 headed to Salem, Oregon. A special THANKS to Joyce and Keath for all their help and hospitality for the last two weeks - they have been truly WONDERFUL. As Gene makes his way to the Oregon border he still needs Host Families. Frank is resting at the KBR Ranch in Brentwood and a big THANK YOU to those folks for taking such good care of him. He will be joining the BOYS in a few weeks. PLEASE, if you can offer Gene and the BOYS a good meal and a nights lodging contact Gayle. Gene is a remarkable man on a remarkable journey and someone that you will not want to miss. It truly is a once in a lifetime opportunity... GOD BLESS.
There is a big RV show in Cleveland, that I am going too. Think Spring!
You all have a nice weekend. :)
~sigh~ You're right. It is to muddy to ride. Just came in from checking the arena. It doesn't really have standing water or deep mud, but the mud around here is very slippery. I could still trail ride, I'm going to wait to see what the weather does. It's clouded back up again right now.
Becky
Definately thinking spring - you all have a good time at the show.
I like that movie! Didn't do well at the box office but I watch it every time it comes on. I love the scene with Jennifer Garner as the model. He sure ripped her off, didn't he?
"Nobody sleeps naked in this house, boy!"
"He was wearing a dinner jacket, whaddaya think he was wearing. He was wearing his damn jammies"
"What did they look like?"
"I don't know, they had yodas and shit on 'em."
Barb was the head instructor at RidingUnlimited and at another place. I thought it was Equest but I could be wrong.
There used to be an instructor at Flower Mound named Susan Aune that we adored!! What a great instructor she was. She moved to Florida and the last I heard, she was in California. She was always patient, never yelled and was extremely supportive. I think she got tired of the barn workers that the owners hired because she couldn't communicate with them. They didn't speak english and she didn't speak spanish.
I'm sorry. Hopefully, we'll be out of this wet weather pattern soon and the ground will dry up.
ROTFL!
"Everybody freeze! Everybody get down on the ground!"
"Well, which is it boy, you want me to freeze, or get down on the ground? Cuz if'n I freeze, I can't rightly get down. And if'n I drop, I'm a gonna be in motion..."
Well, I play at the piano. I enjoy it and my grand babies do to. I just like making the keys fly and making music . My teacher though...an hour of tempo and scales today. I think it was pay back because we have been missing each other and I haven't had a lesson or practiced much over the holidays. Anyway, he asked me how much I remembered and I asked him "what are these black and white things for now?" It was a joke but I don't think he thought it was funny:')
"You got a table an chairs, you got a dinette. You got a table and no chairs, you got dick."
"If a frog had wings, it wouldn't bust his ass a'hoppin! Look, it is exactly 8:45 in the p.m. and in exactly 12 hours I'm gonna be there to kick me some butt, or my name ain't Nathan Arizona!"
Too muddy in Washington too.... and past time for some breakfast.
Cracked me up.
Have you seen "Oh Brother where Art Thou?" It's another Coen brothers..., good dialogue and great characters, just like Raising Arizona and Fargo.
The hot chocolate spiked. It's a fertility drink. 6 horses drinking it in a hot tub though is just kinky. Esther Ruth's horse prefers sipping in front of a fireplace.:')
