The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread - Thread THREE!

Posted on 12/30/2004 7:01:16 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads…. And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

I've not been to the Grasslands but I hear it's the place to go.

Do you know Barb Taylor?

Flower Mound Equestrian Center? I don't think Renee is there any longer. I think there was some kind of a falling out. (I could be wrong on this, but I'm thinking it was Renee)

Sounds like fun! I'll be clearing out a barn and watching 4 children! I used to play the saxaphone and the oboe.
Property hunting is my cup of tea!

You're right about Raisin' Arizona.... one of my favorites.

"Son, you've got a panty on your head."

"These balloons blow up into funny shapes?"
"If round is funny."

Well, how is sick horse this morning?

Our snow didn't amount to much, a trace here under the trees that is mostly gone, and maybe an inch in the pasture...

Right now I'm watching Catch me if you Can. I can't stand listening to Tom Hanks talk. Sometimes his NY accent is way overdone, sometimes it's not there at all, and sometimes it sounds like he's from Boston. (That one is poorly done too, believe me)

Ok... maybe I'm slow. But which one of you has Fred the person, and who has Fred the Fjord?? I assume that we're talking about Fred the person.

We got a little trace of snow... already melted here under the trees, but still a little white out in the pasture...

The girls check it out...

Bay doesn't wanna go...

Super patetic picture of beggin' dogs...

Oops ... got the posts mixed up.

Duchess, hope your colicy horse is better. I lost one to colic a couple of years ago.

Her name is familiar but I can't place it.

I think you are right about Renee leaving Flower Mound. "Falling outs" occur regularly around here it seems. I haven't talked to Renee in some time. Usually, I see her at shows, but I haven't been to any since last summer.

You have FreepMail from me!

Good morning every one. Another 10 inches of snow last night, it's still snowing. Another announcement by the NHP to please stay off the road.

Sonny is fine this morning and dived into his bran and molasses. I guess maybe the weather is what set him off, he's acting like it never happened.

Horses drinking hot chocolate, horses in hot tubs? I missed something here :)

Thank you, yes he's fine or seems so anyway. I'm sorry you lost one, and welcome to the board. I don't think I said that yet to you :)

They've really backed off the prediction they had for us early in the week. We were supposed to get lots of snow, but more than that, some extreme cold, down into the teens or single digits (which we never get).

Now it'll just be slushy rain and snow mixed over the next few days, hovering right around and above freezing.

He is a sweetheart.... ~This~ is the picture I meant to load and post, I grabbed the wrong one. It's very similar to the other one, just even more pathetic and pitiful on Homer's part. ;~D
