Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads…. And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
Good morning. I am, but it's 8:29 here, so it's not all that early for me.
I have one that will not drink in the trailer. He has gone up to 8 hours. He will eat but will not drink different water. Next road trip, I'm going to bring my own I guess. I don't know if I'm going to have trouble with the mare. We have only went on "around the block" trips but she won't eat. Makes the gelding happy though caz he'll take it:') Funny critters.
I can't chat on trails. I start to weave into trees and stuff:')
I'm watching "Raising Arizona" while I'm at the computer. I think that movie has some of the funniest lines in movie history.

I haven't decided yet. Today or tomorrow. I have a lot of work to do around here, some errands and I have to do some stuff at the job.
I was watching Sea Biscuit again the other night. How do you think they got that horse to limp?
I'm in Georgia. I just checked the official weather statement. The low last night was actually 50, but it should warm up to around 78. Sorry : ^ )
I don't think that I've ever seen that movie. What's it about?

I though so. Funny though. I'm more of a reader than a movie watcher but as much as I enjoyed the movie the book bores me.
I see you're enjoying the winter weather too. My daughter's friend was here for a sleep over last night, and had to borrow a bathing suit because she forgot hers. January is a good month this year, isn't it?

Most of the time but we seem to be having 1-2 chilly days a week. Yesterday I was "cold" all day. It's the wind here.

Is it like that all winter? I'm in Texas and it rarely gets that warm in winter. 70 or so is about as warm as it gets. Is everything still green and growing there?
I'm guessing a good trainer. I taught Tuffy to grin and to kiss me but I've created a monster. I can't go near him without getting a face full of horse spit.
I think it's a riot.
Grrrrrr It's about 35 now with a high of around 60.
