KENMORE, Ohio (AP) - A northeast Ohio family hoping to see choirs perform holiday music on Christmas morning instead saw adult programming on the local public access television station. "I turn it to Channel 15 and there's this naked lady on the screen - I mean full-frontal, get-the-hell-out-of-here pornography," said David Umana. "When I tell about Christmas 2004, I'm betting this will be one of my best stories."
Umana's 15- and 17-year-old sons had left the room about 8:30 a.m. Saturday, but he and his wife, Karen, saw the porn and called Time Warner Cable to complain.
Chris Thomas, the cable company's director of government affairs, believes the wrong tape was put in a machine set to play that morning. A church program was scheduled, he said.
"I don't think the church group submitted that," Thomas said.

Time Warner cannot review the tapes before they airHuh?

You notice they didn't change the channel or turn the TV off. Well, you want your complaint to be as detailed as possible, which means sitting through the whole thing. Obviously. How can you be outraged unless you know exactly how outraged you should be?

I suppose some people would consider it "porn", but a naked female, just standing there does not comport with any rational definition of "porn", Potter Stewart notwithstanding. Inappropriate, yes. Bad, probably. Porn, no.

porn is in the eye of the beholder. but to (loosely) quote Raymond: anything that "activates the launch sequence" can be called porn, but isn't that what it's all about?

Years ago, a similar report surfaced.
Viewers in a Flordia town who tuned their tv's to watch a religious program (Oral Roberts, IIRC), got a porn movie. In that instance, the operations center at the cable outlet forgot to switch satellites and a timed porn program showed up on the current satellite.
Frequently, the weekend crew or late night crew at broadcast stations put a porn tape in one of the station vcr's (for their own entertainment) while the regular movie or infomercials are playing. Sometimes the wrong switches get switched and the wrong movie/tape gets on-air time.

I know that if this had happened to me, I would be too busy taking notes about how offended and shocked I am to change the channel. :)

Slim, Helen fits mine, but then this morning Laz and I were discussing his attraction to goats on another thread. I don't think we can go as far as banning goats.
bedolido, that launch sequence is a funny phrase! But the criterion doesn't fit. For me, at 55, something really special, human or pharmaceutical is required. For a 17 year old normal male, a knot-hole in the fence initiates the launch sequence. Don't think that's porn. But thanks for the line.

must one bring the face (and body) of Helen Thomas into a pure discussion of the feminine wiles and mistique.
Kinda like adding salt-peter to your viagra.

No, really. They went to their respective rooms to get the tapes rolling.
