This guy left out the dozens of John Wayne flicks that could have easily made it.

My favs: True grit, El Dorado, and McClintock

Dunno how it stacks up, since of these I've only seen "High Noon" and "Treasure of the Sierra Madre" (liked 'em both), but I'll always have a soft spot for "Gunfight at the OK Corral".

I'll put in for Peckinpah's underrated Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid, starring James Coburn and Kris Kristofferson. .....and a virtual who's who of famous western character actors. Soundtrack by Bob Dylan, who also played the character "Alias."

I like "They Call Me Trinity", and "Trinity is Still My Name". Terence Hill and Bud Spencer are a great team.

My favorite western is #3, High Noon.
I also like quite a few of the John Wayne ones.

Although it's an amusing film, High Plains Drifter shouldn't be on that list.

High Noon for me, the true movie of the american spirit. No bravado required, just standing up for what's right.

"This guy" thinks Eastwood is the best western actor.

John Wayne defined the "Western" in America, and The Searchers is the best Western ever.

What about "Shakiest Gun In The West" with Don Knotts.

"A seven-shooter?"

I like the orignal list a lot, but my list would find a way to include a guilty pleasure of mine, Sam Raimi's The Quick And The Dead.

Never really thought of The Wild Bunch as a western. It's kind of cult violence movie.

A Fistful of Dollars - The beginning of Sergio and Clint's Dollars series, this is the best of the bunch.

Bunch? There were only two, the other being For a Few Dollars More.

In no particular order:

The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance
Silverado
Stagecoach
A Man Called Horse
Open Range
Tombstone
The Magnificent Seven

I must make myself stop.
