Here's the dictionary definition: A Scottish dish consisting of a mixture of the minced heart, lungs, and liver of a sheep or calf mixed with suet, onions, oatmeal, and seasonings and boiled in the stomach of the slaughtered animal.

I've known a number of Scotsmen who say it's good stuff, but I don't believe it for a second, I suspect it's some joke Scotland's been playing on the rest of the planet. The nearest I had was some tripe (stomach lining of cattle, stuffed with something like the haggis description above) when I was a kid in France, and I wasn't thrilled.

Hah, Bubba, what a phonus bolonus! By the way, Morris thinks ol' haggis-butt can win. I'd better stock up on strychnine and cyanide for me.

i have had pickled pigs feet by the way, my Lithuanian grandmother made it. it was some gelatinous mass that had flecks of meat from the porcine foot in it i guess. that is a nightmarish dish i hadn't thought of in some time. i will have to email xsbro with that particular memory....

I've never tried the pickled kind, Kraussmann's are large and boiled and they're delicious. With hot mustard and boiled potatoes and sauerkraut. And beer, of course.
