This was actually written last night, AFTER the heathens made their early exodus.

Hope you all had better luck on Christmas Day.

You can choose your friends but you can't choose your relatives.

I've got a know-it-all brother also. He has an MBA and worked on Wall St. I never finished college.

Naturally, I don't know crap and am reminded of that constantly (well, not anymore, we don't speak)

Good luck.

Poor you! From a literary point of view, it sounds almost Victorian: a drunken, improvident heir ruining dinner because he is angered at being prevented from trying to run the estate into the ground, and then leaving in a snit, having destroyed everybody else's Christmas. However, the literary aspect isn't very comforting when you're stuck in the middle of it.

Good luck! I hope today was better...

I tend to get stressed and depressed at the emotional demands placed on me around Christmas. I'd better count my blessings! Bless you, too.

BTW--I unloaded a lot of stresses many years ago by not inviting them to come anymore...

(((((Eggsie))))))

I'm sorry you had to go through that.

My Christmas was ruined by an insolent, 27-year-old, pathetically spoiled nephew whose mother (my sister) allows to live at home rent free so he can spend his meager earnings on his car, booze and pot.

Chalk it up to a full moon.

I think you and I will be more wise at the next family gathering.

Yeesh. Sounds similar.

Once you draw out on the principal the interest off it drops dramtically. and then they can't figure out why there's no money. But of course they think there is money because after all there was money in there a few years ago!
And of course they want to use it for other than its intended purposes and threaten legal action to break up the trust so they can have their cake and eat it too...all the time not realizing the only reason a trust has lasted this long is because our ancestors were wiser about fincances in their day than we are now....

ARRGGHHHHH.

Siblings were meant to be fed to lions, not enjoyed!

I stay home and away from relatives as much as possible. If, on the very rare occasion they venture over, I'm suddenly tired and need a nap with the door closed.

I have several relatives on probation. they either act like family is supposed to or they're gone. After my father screwed me on a business deal I didn't talk to any of my family for more than three years. It hurt me badly to do that, but not much more than the way they acted before. That was almost ten years ago. The dingalings act like grownups now (around me anyway)

Friends are Gods way of apologizing for your family.
