Poor you! From a literary point of view, it sounds almost Victorian: a drunken, improvident heir ruining dinner because he is angered at being prevented from trying to run the estate into the ground, and then leaving in a snit, having destroyed everybody else's Christmas. However, the literary aspect isn't very comforting when you're stuck in the middle of it.

Thanks. Today is shaping up to be fine. They WERE supposed to stay three nights, but "thank God and Greyhound" they're gone!
