I was looking forward to hearing you are safe... was concerned about those winds for you... I know some areas of the country get high winds routinely, but I think Mass is probably as poorly designed for high winds as we are in the NW. Do you have tall trees where you are?

Oh yeah, we have some tall ones in the back yard, but we had taken down the ones that were closest to the house in preparation for the remodel. The ones that are remaining are pretty sturdy. We get pretty good winds all the time because we're at one of the higher points in the town, so when the winds pick up, it's really strong! SSQ is going to construct the addition using hurricane straps for that reason.

The winds have died down for the most part, and the sun has come out, so it looks like, "Hallelujah! The Great Storm is Over". ;o)
