The Hobbit Hole XVIII - Though we pass them by today...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 12/20/2004 9:01:36 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Though we pass them by today...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Heh, or it's cuz you have such lousy days all of us are sympathetic.

I decided a long time ago that I would not be one of those women who come to work and grouch about life, that I would never let people know when I was having "female issues", and that life's just easier when you pretend to be a nice person. But you can't do that 24-hours a day, it's too hard.

That's a good attitude to take. And this is a safe place to do your griping.

I speak from experience. ;-)

"PRCIOUS"

LOL! That would work!

But Steve won't have the ring runes on it...I could maybe get away with it if they were magnatized.

The plan is to put it back to "stock" as much as possible...visiting salvage yards, ebay and such to get original replacement parts. For example...the dome light is broken. I can get dome lights that would do, or I could go to a salvage yard and get an exact replacement.

The idea is to TRY to get the exact replacement first, then go to for "aftermarket" stuff if we just absolutely can't find the replacement.

And example of when we will go with aftermarket instead of stock is the seatbelts...at least in the front seats. They are AWFUL. We will absolutely need more modern seatbelts. However, we will keep the originals, in case we ever sell this car and the purchaser wants them.

Seat covers however will be discarded completely...they are totally shot and not worth saving. They are easily replaced with aftermarket "copies" of the originals.

How about window decals in the back window?

What a cool project you've got ahead of you!

Heh...I doubt most people would understand it, and I really do doubt they'd care. Those who understood it would probably get a kick out of it!

I have found I have lived a great deal of my life being concerned about what others think of me, when most the time they either don't think anything or think I'm just fine. Go figure!

Yep, I'm good at that, too.

Very good at it.

Isn't that the truth! You are responsible for what you think of other people, not what they think of you. If you're not doing anything wrong, who cares whether they like it or not?
