The Hobbit Hole XVIII - Though we pass them by today...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 12/20/2004 9:01:36 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Though we pass them by today...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Lots of excellent katana action. And a beautiful film, too.

Evening - NO OSAGE.. well, any hedge apple trees round your neck of the woods? If not, we'll get you some hedge apples and you can try the old timey way.

That is a good selection of trees for the ridge.

I ain't got that much land and I got 16 oak trees. And eleven of them is marked.

We'll check to see if the bushy tailed thievin varmits have left any in the park we take Gypsygirl to. Six big ol' osage trees along the south property line of the park.

Would the ice storm take any nice bow sized branches out of those trees? Not so far. sigh.

Ditto... some of the Chinese movies I've seen have lovely filmography but that language just grates on my ears. Japanese sounds like a real language, at least.

I want to see "Ran" one of these days. Keep meaning to look for it... Shakespeare as done by Kurisawa has to be interesting, right?

Good idea, lets you know if the ambient temperature is high enough to do a load of laundry.
