The Hobbit Hole XVIII - Though we pass them by today...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Though we pass them by today...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

And the choice between second hand skivvies and too small skivvies is a pretty easy one...

Once, I was out in the back yard at my parent's house with her daughter and a thunderstorm was coming...it was still way off but you could hear thunder in the distance. The girl started to get alarmed but I said "Oh, it's a long way off and thunderstorms are beautiful from a distance...let's watch it!" So we sat down on the patio and watched it approach (I would have gone in before it got too bad, of course). I talked about how great God must be if He could create such a thing as a thunderstorm. (She was about 6, I guess.)

Well, all of a sudden, while we're sitting there peacefully watching this storm in the distance, her mother jerks open the door, runs out, says "She's afraid of thunder!" grabs the kid and goes back in the house.

LOL!! Not for mine...I remember trying to convince Joshua that the boxers I got him (at a garage sale) were supposed to fit that way! LOL He thought they were shorts and came out with them over his briefs.

No sense giving Matthew a pair of boxers...he'll have none of it. He is the most "set in his ways" kid I ever knew (when it comes to things like undergarments.)

Did we even eat the morning you stayed here? I don't remember! It would have been the morning of the wedding that you were all here.

We could still use a cook in the morning. We could pay better than minimum (which is awful high here in Wash.) but there is dog-watching involved.

Well that is a surefire way to make a kid scared of something. After all, if mommy is scared of it and TELLS you that you are then it must be some pretty scary stuff.

Those were some GOOD dogs!

Ha ha!! I'll never forget laying there listening to the "rain", drifting off to sleep like I was at Tom Bombadil's house...only to find out it was your water sprinkler system. LOL!!! Then getting everyone up at the crack of dawn because I thought your TV channel was the clock.

Yep, Words like "Flake" and "Munchhausen's" often come to my mind.

Speaking of weather...meteorology is one of the big majors at the college here. There are pictures all over the place of interesting clouds and weather.

Yesterday we were in the conference room in the main building, and I got to looking at the pictures round about...and with about two exceptions, they were all of Colorado! Odd. I guess it must be because it's flat and therefore easy to see clouds coming? And maybe the altitude and the mountains bring about some interesting patterns? I dunno! But I thought that was kinda cool...

Well, it's understandable how channel 957 could throw you a curve. But that time of year it starts getting light about 4 a.m. way up here. It was gorgeous weather then, we ate out on the patio that morning, if I remember right.

That's right...I was afraid we'd be late picking OT up at the airport!

It was gorgeous....we had that great walk in the park later on. The first time I ever actually met Hair and Ecurb!

I had such a good time.

Or maybe it's just another *sign*...

Hullo. Apparently I needed to catch up on sleep since I conked out somewhere before 9 and woke up less than half an hour ago. At least I have that luxury this week.
