The Hobbit Hole XVIII - Though we pass them by today...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Though we pass them by today...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

You'd think that one thing they could do with DVD movies is play the movie with rating-edits in place. You play a movie and can choose to watch a G/PG/R or whatever version.

This would come in pretty handy. With Dona, there's only like six movies that she can ever watch. Admittedly her problems with movies are a little more serious than for most kids. There are G movies she can't watch.

For tonite's performance the part of Grunthos the Flatulent will be played by Nana...

She can't help it, she's old. (Murder by Death)

Good evening, for a moment. Back from the jam. Need to get sleep so tomorrow I can make a Wal-mart run for cleaning supplies and another run for boxes...want to start really sorting and scrubbing, scrubbing and sorting...

That music needed some tapping behind it! Or was it there, and I just couldn't hear it?

You still here?

Finishing up before bed. I don't think I'll log on before leaving tomorrow, so I'll probably check in tomorrow night. If it's Sunday afternoon and nobody's heard from me, I've been kidnapped by aliens who hail me as their queen.

I'm in bed where I belong...*shhhhh*

Well, will be soon.

Have a good trip, if I don't see you tomorrow! And if the aliens do show up...maybe they'll have some good plot ideas? Mine needs something right now. I need a situation in which a younger pilot (space ship) would contradict the captain (rightly, but...) and get in big trouble. I haven't figured out what yet.

Thanks!

No plot ideas for me... I need to write but there are always other things to do, books to read, conversations to have... maybe when I'm back to being lonely and in the wrong time zone.

But for you... perhaps the captain doesn't realize that there's a problem with the cargo that the younger pilot has discovered because his family makes their living shipping (X? Unstable alcohol? I dunno) and the captain, who doesn't see it in his handbook, ignores it.

Or you could just use the standard "captain goes nuts and the junior officers can't decide whether to go along with him or try to relieve him of duty" bit.

I'm thinking also the younger guy may find out the captain is shipping something he shouldn't be...and gets upset.

I have some ideas. I don't want him completely nuts...but a problem with the cargo could be a good start to it.

*yawn*

I need to get to sleep! Lots to do tomorrow...

Maybe it's something forbidden by law but needed by some other planet? And the pilot can't see why the captain is taking the risk, but the captain wants a profit/has family on said planet/other reason?

Good night, then! Have a nice day tomorrow.

The company they're all working for is a bit shady, but the pilot doesn't know that. The captain may or may not. I'm voting that he does.

Something related to that could stir up a nice fight. That could be cool.

OK, NOW I'm goin' to bed! See you...sometime this weekend!

Thank you! That's reassuring... especially after my sister got routed through London when she missed her plane to Manchester yesterday! At least my traveling is all in one country!

Bunches of you have my contact number somewhere if the need should arise.
