Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Though we pass them by today...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I didn't read HP until after Clare and Joseph had read them, and I really enjoyed them. We did the series as a read aloud with the kids last year, since SSQ had never read them. They enjoyed hearing them read aloud, and he did, too!

Cinnamon / apple sauce ornaments? What are they? It's a dough made from cinnamon and applesauce, and you cut them out like sugar cookies. Before you bake them, you poke a hole in the top and you can hang them from your tree individually, or make a garland with them. They smell just wonderful! That's something you and Theresa could do for thehouse! I bet she'd love doing them.

Challah is a braided egg based bread, eaten by Jewish folks for Shabbas meals, and by everyone else because it's GOOD! It is a scrumptious bread, and from what I've heard, pretty easy to make, though I've never done it.

stay in the house as much as possible because he didnt want us to get caught by the law.I thought Texas was pretty easy about homeschooling. Do you even have to register with your local school authorities?

Right after Christmas, just like I wanted. Next obstacle is relieving my husband's fears that we are 'breaking the law.' He sees me as such a radical/rebel/upstart/troublemaker. Its not the first time Ive been accused of that, but you would think after 15 years of marriage he'd have a bit more trust in me.

I'm listening to the Lunasa cd you sent me and cleaning the house in case of company which we almost surely won't have! LOL
Not exactly Christmasy, but good housecleaning music nonetheless.
To: Alkhin
Good lord, even the general population has figured out in the last five years or so that homeschooling's legal... Mom never gets asked that dumb question any more. When I was little we got that all the time.

Man, I love that group!
That still ranks as the best concert I've ever been to, by far. Of course, the fact that they're all wonderful folks didn't hurt matters any. That was just incredible, meeting them, and having them take the time to talk to us about our music - totally down to earth and encouraging. And funny!

I'd rather meet them a million times more than Bruce Springsteen. (In case I haven't said it lately...Bruce can blow it right out his shorts.)
I would really like to go to one of their concerts...
To: 2Jedismom
I wish they'd come back this way! The closest they're coming anytime soon is almost three hours away. *sniff*

Hubby's a bit on the paranoid side. He's also a bit on the conformist side...mostly because he grew up with the idea that appearances are everything and to be defiantly different was a hallmark of shame. As long as everything LOOKED good and no one distinguished themselves too much, other than by one-upping someone else socially or academically or economically, then security was more important than individuality. He hates conflict, whereas I am always ready to rumble.
there's a world of difference between the way I was brought up and the way he was, I can tell you. It stays with you for the rest of your life.
