The Hobbit Hole XVIII - Though we pass them by today...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 12/20/2004 9:01:36 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Though we pass them by today...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Me, too. Though I've been writing this evening and my wordcount doesn't seem to have improved. Still stuck just under 62k.

I should get to bed soon.

But I can sleep in tomorrow! Oh, rapture! Oh, bliss!

I'm outta Pepsi and ice. Could drink it straight, but I just...don't, usually.

And mentioning Captain without an explanation here is likely to confuse some folks. ;-) Which could be kinda fun!

I'm just sort of still on Mountain time. Late to bed, later to rise, hang out, eat crap... I am so out of shape.

Woot! A new number!

Confusion is the Lord's way of slowing people down, long enough to get a fargin' grip.

Much in the way that I just observed some binky-teens play some AC/DC "Back in Black" on the Musakbox. Sheesh... this stuff is older than they are. Sure... I like it just fine, but to them it was probably like me back in high school playing some Sinatra. They probly thought it was respectful, so they could get away with playing some "usher" or some other such @#$*

Heh, I'll bet!

Time to move from the living room to the top bunk and do some reading. Midnight? Bah. And the bothers wonder why New Year's Eve is no big deal.

Hey Sam. Sorry I missed your call. We had dinner with friends before the show. I had the phone off in order to be polite.

It was a rare moment.

So... who's ready to take the "I will get a rejection slip in '05" resolution?

The only resolution I'm making is to not make any resolutions.
