The Hobbit Hole XVIII - Though we pass them by today...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 12/20/2004 9:01:36 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Though we pass them by today...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

goin' tuh town tuh get John Deere green paint and iron brackets fer some shelves we're gonna put in his room...

Unfortunately I can't do that. We're goin' to MY mom's house.

Prolly wouldn't, but with my step-dad's surgery, Mom didn't have much of a Christmas. So we'll take the boys and she'll get a bit of time with them.

Plus Saturday it give us the chance for Nana to be with their side of the family. Papa's brothers and sisters always get together on the Saturday between. This just happens to be New Year's Day. It's specially important since they lost another brother.

So we go to do our duty.

Sometimes I hate duty.

Sometimes duty really sucks.

I've done all my duty stuff - we got off light this year. Oh, except that today I'm going to see an old friend and she's making me see "The Phantom of the Opera" movie which I really don't haev any interest in, but that's nothing major.

My condolences. I've not heard good things about "Phantom."

He's a little old for my tastes, unfortunately.

My sister saw it already (her friend dragged her) and she said it was bad.

35 is old?

*sigh*

I guess I'm old, too, though, ain't I?

I doubt it's great...but I'd still like to see it, just for the heck of it. I don't know that it's coming here, though. Probably will have to wait for the DVD to come out.

Well, fer me! And he comes off older than he is, to me... remember, my parents are only in their early 40s, so I have a skewed notion of age.

Well, got to go. See you this evening

Hey, last night I dug out my old (2002) Nanowrimo files. I've been thinking for a long time that I wanted to edit part of it into a short story.

But readin' thru, I've been thinkin' "hey, this crap ain't half bad."

I'm gonna work on some rewrites...and of course finishing it...

That was the about about the file folder...something to do with an alternate universe? Something like that?

I'd like to read it when you get done, if you're willing to share!

Heh...I found my 2002 story. It stank. It reeked.

But I did have a few characters that were pretty well drawn. Might have to steal some of them in the future.

Oh, I can't wait to see that movie! "Masquerade" is one of my favorite numbers, and I saw a preview of that scene and it looks beautiful!

Dang yer good. Yep, that's it.

Papa died right in the middle of the month. So I put it away and haven't looked at it since then.

The premise is good, even some of the writing is pretty good.

I've published an "e-book" (link on my profile page).

I'm not sure it will be book form. But I hope to publish something ~this year~ (2005).

We'll see how far we get. Ask me in August if I still think that's possible.
