(Vanity)Some people just need to shut the hell up(Vanity) AKA Please flame me, I'm bored. (Vanity)

Okay, so I'm doing my nightly FReeper thing, reading new posts, visiting the threads that I've been pinged to, etc..etc. Nothing new, I've been doing this for several years now, pretty much on a daily basis. I don't start too many threads (because frankly, nobody really wants or needs my 2 cents).

But tonight I've had it. I can't bite my tongue any more. I've got to vent.

Why are there A LOT of Freepers who insist on commenting on topics that they have no idea what the hell they're talking about?

I just got done reading the thread about the Rush Limbaugh spoof on Saturday Night Live last night vis a vis The Drudge Report Story. There were something like 70+ posts on the thread: (http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1304821/posts) And it's clearly obvious that maybe three posters had actually scene the SNL sketch in question.

I love the fact that everybody is free to their opinion, but geez...why must a thread about a TV show be clogged up with self righteous after self righteous claiming that they haven't seen SNL in 20 years, or some even claiming that they don't even bother watching TV.
Good for you!! Great! I don't freakin' care if you do or not. Why are you bothering posting on a TV related thread of you're so above the mighty idiot box?

Or, for that matter, the people who claim that SNL isn't as funny now as it was when Belushi, Chase, Akroyd, or whoever was on it. Boo yah! I don't have time to participate in what was. I didn't watch SNL then, I barely watch it now.

Of the 70+ posts on the thread maybe a dozen were actually about the event in question. And those all seemed to say the same thing: The producers of that particular animated segment bashed both sides pretty evenly.

Yeah, I agree it's pretty insane that a show that has had the drug abusers and drug ODs that SNL has would poke fun at Rush's drug problem. (I actually thought the skit was pretty outdated, Rush's drug probelm was last years news.) But I understand why one of the NBC execs would be pretty outraged and that is somewhat newsworthy. (Though, it being on Drudge I wonder how newsworthy it really is.)

But that's not the first time I've seen crap like this happen... and it's happening with more and more frequency on FR. People totally out of the loop offering their opinion without knowing any of the facts.

There was a thread earlier today about California Employee's retirement system. I'm getting slammed in there because of a posters idea of what the FEDERAL retirement system is. No where that I saw did anybody start talking about the Federal... I was talking about California as that is what experience I have, and that's what the blessed article was about.

But nobody reads any more. They see a headline, they have their 2 cent opinion, and they post it.

Where's the critical thinking process at? It's lacking in the threads I'm reading. (And if it's on the threads I'm not reading, I apologize for not knowing it.)

If I didn't know better I'd think DU was sending very well disguised trolls over, just to water down everything.

Okay, I guess I'm done ranting now. Flame away, I can take it.

I'd suggest a handful of exemption for Freeper All-Stars...

LOL!

I prefer 'brusque' to whatever pathological form of patience would be required to figure out what 'emotions' a poster may be attempting to express.

Where's the critical thinking process at?

The snide, inane comments come hard and fast around here lately, don't they.

I said I expected flames, didn't necessarily mean I wanted them.

A bit of revisionist history there. You were begging for flames. Go re-read your headline, paticularly this part, "Please flame me, I'm bored."

Info you.....I used to load weapons on the A10...it is the greatest and my favorite. I say that the Warthog is ugly but effective. That is a really good way to be.....

I've been trying to figure out what you were talking about ever since I first read this post, and it just dawned on me (blonde LOL) that you were referring to the warthog link that's on my profile page. That lady did one heck of a job landing that plane, as shot up as it was. :)

Btw, true -- not "all Muslims" are "at war with the West; Just the hundreds of thousands that have conspired to help convert or kill "infidels" the world over, OR blow up the world...Oh, but you didn't get that "NEWS FLASH", Sparky??

100,000 Muslims? let's say there's a 1/2 million that want to kill us...

From: http://www.religioustolerance.org/isl_numb.htm

There are any where from 700 million to 1.2 billion Muslims in the world. A 1/2 million represents from .0417% to .0714%.

I believe I stated it was a small percentage of the Muslim population that was trying to blow us up. I stand by my statement, Sparky.

(But I do agree, the 500,000 or whatever the number is that wants to blow us up needs to be dealt with... I have no qualms on the war on terror)

That's alright -- just go back to bonging it, piling up the empty Pabst cans, and occassionally posting an inane vanity.

You'll be happy to know that I've never done drugs, nor have I ever been drunk. But I guess you're just as much to blame for taking part of an inane vanity...

Isn't that right, Sparky?

The only thing worse than inane vanities, is actualy going to the trouble of pointing out that it is an inane vanity.

It was an awesome job and it took everything she had to land that plane. I loved working on that plane and it is my all time favorite. I also worked the F16 and the B1s, but in my eyes nothing can touch the Warthog. By the way, what is SNOW?????????

Oh, I don't know, maybe posting to yourself to bump the thread maybe?

LOL - sounds like you lightened up a bit, eh?

Actually I hope this thread gets pulled. It's gone way on long enough and I've had my ego stroked enough.

Although I still stand behind my point -- I think people would do themselves and Free Republic more of a service if they read the article and the thread BEFORE they posted their 2 cents.

I couldn't agree more. As an aside, you might want to ask folks interested in the same subjects as you to add you to their ping lists. That way, you wouldn't have to hunt for articles. The sideline bars with articles change so much in a 24 hour period, I know I miss a lot of them. Getting pinged helps me.
