I'm planning on adopting a cat from our local shelter.
I haven't had a cat since I was young so I'd appreciate some input
on which of these cats that you'd think would be the best to adopt :)
I Know that there are a lot of cat lovers in the freeper community.
Many Thanks Nashua Humane Society
Personally I'm leaning towards Jamie or Whitney.
Any kitty advice or input you would like to lend :)
I would go with Galway & Nora, but otherwise I would second Mya. I wish I could get another Tabby, but I have to wait a few more years. :(
Get two kitties. Especially since you're going to be away from home all day most days. Even if they hate each other at first, they'll get over it and become fast friends, keeping each other company while you're away.
Oscar or Dusty, for what it's worth. I'm not a cat person, but those too are damn cute!
They are all too cuuuuuuute! I'd adopt a bunch myself, but my own 4-legged princess wouldn't like it very much.
Since you are gone during the day, one kitty would get bored (and into mischief). I would go with Galway and Norah. Good luck and keep us updated on your new addition(s)!
I adopted a cat from a shelter about five years ago. He was already full grown, but I noticed the label outside his cage said something like "sweet lovable cat". That did it for me, hook line and sinker.
I would go for a full grown because their chances of being adopted are smaller than the cuter kittens.

Howdy, neighbor!
Man...I should NOT be looking at sites like that! I already have three, which is two more than I set out to have!
Sophie's the one that caught my eye, for whatever reason. Not the fluffiest or cutest of the bunch, but there's something about her...
Then take the both of them.
Tough choice!
I'd adopt Jamie. I like that she is affectionate. Imagine how she will blossom with you in her own home with lots of love for YOU!!!
Thanks for the ping Cal.
I can only tell you how I choose pets at the Humane Society.
Take the animal, out away from the others, and talk to it.
If it responds, take it home, if it does not want to hear
your voice, all the cuteness in the world won't make up for
a pet, who does not want to hear you.
The 2 kitties I have now, love my voice, they must, as they
mob me when I answer the phone.
Wish you were close to me, I live in the middle of a feral cat colony, so always have abandoned babies to keep in the
house and to find homes for.
Take 2 cats, one will be lonely.
Good luck and Merry Christmas.
We never went to get a cat either. Yet we always have cats.
Speckles was brought to us by her mother in the middle of Hurricane Andrew.
It was the middle of the storm, the gorgeous, calico cat (we named her Rosy) came up to our back porch with the kitten in her mouth. She was climbing up the screen of our back porch.
I took the kitten and my husband went back out with Rosy to find her nest/den to see if there were more. She had only one more, we named him Red.
Red chose to leave us once he became a Tom. I think he knew he had a vet appointment scheduled.
The mother, Rosy, we ended up giving to my husband's colleague at work after I had my first baby. Rosy would go after her when she cried. I have no patience for any animal in my house trying to harm my children.
We still have Speckles.
Our other cat, Oscar, I found in a plastic garbage bag at the park. I heard crying coming from the garbage can, dumped it over expecting to find a baby. Thankfully it wasn't human. Sure sounded that way though. It was a kitten.
I really didn't think that kitten would make it. It was in that bag during the high heat of summer. The kitten was soaked with sweat and larthagic.
Well, she is still with us, alive and well. My daughter named her Oscar after Sesame Street since we found her in a garbage can.
Oscar is my daughter's cat. She will sit with her for hours. Doesn't pay much mind to the rest of us.
Your cats sound delightful.
I have always felt that God sends them to us, often when we
need them the most.
One piece of advice I'd give is to spend a lot of time with the cat before you bring it home. Most shelters have rooms for pets and owners to get acquainted. Every cat has a unique personality so its best to know what you're getting before you take it home and wonder why it doesn't like you. Good luck and let us know how it goes!
Both Jaimie and Whitney are nice.
Me, I'd like to have Tom Thumb. I'd just love to have him laying around all the time.
