When I first found out that my neighbors had three dachsunds and a Yorkie, I was not thrilled. They are very yappy, but since I've spent more time with them, I've come to love them. I was never a fan of small dogs, but they've changed my mind. They still act like they've never seen me before in their lives when I'm out in the backyard, but when they can get close to me and realize who I am, they're very loving and affectionate. And Noel, one of the female dachsunds, is my favorite. She listens to me better than she does her owners. I've offered to take her off of their hands, but they won't give her up.
I'm sure they will have some kind of claim check system now, and if they actually enforce it, I am sure people will get angry when they lose the claim check. You ever been questioned or carded when picking up your animal from the vet? or a groomer? No one expects someone to lie about whether it's really their dog, especially when they have to pay the bill to pick her up.
How many times have you been given a claim check and returned to pick up film, your laundry or whatever where they actually require the ticket? You give them your name, they go look for your stuff. This is no different. People don't expect theft like this till it happens. Once, and the rules then change for everyone, for awhile.
No doubt, but not not many prefer their dogs to their kids.

No kiding, I looked at this a few minutes ago and after seeing over 100 posts I came back to see what all the fuss was about.

They sound like good alarm dogs, then. For a lot of people, a small dog is all they can handle. That's especially true for older folks, who don't have the strength needed to handle a larger dog. But, even a small dog can sound the alarm when a stranger approaches, and that's a good thing.
Cats aren't so good at that. They tend to dive under the nearest piece of furniture when danger appears. Oh well.
Not for long. No doubt someone on this thread has already notified Social Services...
Perhaps we should take up a collection and offer a reward even though no ransom has been sought. I'll throw in my 2 cents.,,,,oops, I've already done that.

You think you like them when they are alive? They are even better after they are dead, that's when ya eat 'em! Ummmmm
I have a Peke. She's as much of a 'real dog' as my parents wonderful Boxer was and as much of a 'real dog' as any of the Great Danes we have had.
Ever had kids? There were days I wished I could have made my boys sleep in the garage.
