Why are coffeehouses over-run with DemocRATS?!?!? (Mod sets bongo aside, zots troll)
Posted on 12/14/2004 11:14:29 AM PST by CarolinaGOPer
I live in a college town in North Carolina, and recently I went into a coffee shop to innocently purchase a cup of coffee. What I instead found was a veritable den of sin, filled with Marxists and DemocRATS. To wit:
-The entire place stunk of patchoulli -Patrons were reading 'Tropic of Cancer', 'The Communist Manifesto', and 'Stupid White Men' -- titles that I would never want my good G*d-fearing children getting a hippie's length away from (of course, not a Bible to be found) -Two women were kissing (of course, I could only tell they were women upon further inspection, if you catch my drift; they seemed to be wearing very comfortable shoes) -Someone was actually playing *bongos* in the corner -The combined annual income of the patrons was less than what I paid for my car
Why is it, dear Freepers, that coffeehouses are controlled by these liberals? Why can't family-loving, G*d-fearing, red-blooded Americans simply get a cup of coffee without having our values completely desecrated?!? Are there any conservative coffeehouses, where this ridicuolousness is not tolerated?

I can't stand Starbucks. First off, I don't want to have to undergo a credit check before purchasing a cup of their overpriced coffee. Second, the place just reeks of pretension.
I'd much rather pay a lot less for a good cup of coffee at 7-11 or a doughnut shop. The kind of places commies and socialist scum don't congregate and hang out at.

Reds and Commie-symps have always frequented coffeehouses. Leon Trotsky was the poster boy for supercilious intellectuals talking revolution while sipping on an over-priced Brauner. Leftists are the darlings of coffeehouse proprietors, and that's not going to change. You can still enjoy the atmosphere and good cup of coffee--cafes are a great place to read a book or maybe strike up an interesting debate.

And the wealthier lefties bemoan country clubs overrun with 'Limbaugh types'. Everyone needs to quit whining.

RE: Liberal CoffeeHouse's
Go to a STARBUCKS.
Most liberals gnash their teeth and hiss at "corporate coffee", but the floors and chairs aren't sticky from lack of cleaning and the tables haven't a layer of muffin crumb-debris left from the last 6 months...

Why, oh why, indeed. You did mispell ridiculousness, but that was probably just a typo. Well done!

The entire place stunk of patchoulliDang it; I like patchoullioil. Maybe I need to stop using it, so this troll and his buddies don't mistake me for one of them. Imagine, using a scent to determine someone's political proclivities - how...how...scentist.

Can't get Dunkin Donuts out here in Cali. :( I'll have to make sure I get some when I visit my parents in CT for Christmas.

Welcome to Free Republic. If you're still here, you should speak up, or else prepare for the incoming ZOT.

Because people read it is against your values? the place stinks and it is against your values? Because people play bongos it is a sin? How do you know their income? As for the girls kissing you have me there; I am sure your God fearing children would be totally corrupted if they saw that (after they inspected the girls shoes) Why do you feel the sinful readers, bongo players and low income folks are controlling the place? Did they allow you to purchase your coffee?

Goodness .... I just moved to North Carolina from a blue state. I am a long-time Free Republic poster, but I had all of my login information saved on my old computer, so I created a new handle. I am not a *troll*, I assure you. I didn't realize I'd get so many replies in 15 minutes!!!
The town is indeed Chapel Hill, and it was Caribou Coffee on Franklin Street. Someone told me there's a Starbuck's in Durham.
