I live in a college town in North Carolina, and recently I went into a coffee shop to innocently purchase a cup of coffee. What I instead found was a veritable den of sin, filled with Marxists and DemocRATS. To wit:
-The entire place stunk of patchoulli -Patrons were reading 'Tropic of Cancer', 'The Communist Manifesto', and 'Stupid White Men' -- titles that I would never want my good G*d-fearing children getting a hippie's length away from (of course, not a Bible to be found) -Two women were kissing (of course, I could only tell they were women upon further inspection, if you catch my drift; they seemed to be wearing very comfortable shoes) -Someone was actually playing *bongos* in the corner -The combined annual income of the patrons was less than what I paid for my car
Why is it, dear Freepers, that coffeehouses are controlled by these liberals? Why can't family-loving, G*d-fearing, red-blooded Americans simply get a cup of coffee without having our values completely desecrated?!? Are there any conservative coffeehouses, where this ridicuolousness is not tolerated?
Can't be much of a FReeper. I'd forget my In-Laws names before I forget my FReeper name.
Yup, I go for that or the regular house blend. Both are good and CHEAP!!!
Me too.
Yeah, I've been there. Pretty great place. Now THAT coffee is expensive!!! Have you been to 'The Barbecue Joint' on Weaver Dairy Road?
I thought you didn't like anime....
Is there a conservative coffee house in the Seattle area? ;o)
No, I live in Richmond. We were driving through Chapel Hill about a year ago and decided to stop and see what A Southern Season was. It was just a lot of fun to walk through!
More questions? Sure. How about explaining how, exactly, people sitting in chairs reading books and playing drums is a huge desecration of your values?
This one has the built in grinder. We have one of these.
Here is a link.
Once they get out of college (if they can reduce their pot induced high to a level where they can pass a college test) and they look for and get a real job..... they'll change. That nice little FICA tax line on the paycheck tends to do that to a lot of people.
Don't be discouraged! There are just as many people not in the coffee shop on the other side. I had an election party at my house. The age range was 21-27. We had about 25 people. All die hard consertatives. We made W look liberal.
I've got the previous grind and brew model... and it's dying. How do you like the one you have?
I've been buying from these guys for about five years. Home-roasting, once you get used to it, is the only way to go. Great, fresh coffee at half-price - hard to beat. Mostly, I buy their French Roast blend by the 20lb bag, and make quadruple-espressos in a cappucino cup with it, because I'm sort of hard-core. I now own one of the iRoast machines, and recommend it highly.
Just that one bit, found through a Google search. Them Japanese hipsters are cool cats.
It might be because only fools pay $2.75 for a cup of coffee.
The 253 posts (and counting) is proof that at least some people agree with me. PDA from lesbians? That's OK with you? If I owned the coffee shop, that would not be allowed -- same with the bongos.
And I think that the only person who has actually read 'Stupid White Men' is Michael Moore. Most people just hold the book up to show how smart they (think they) are.
It works great. I use a regular machine, but the wife has the one like the pic I posted. She uses the timer on that thing, but it never starts before I leave home.
The first time I heard that thing go off, I didn't know what had happened. I was working in the room next to the kitchen, and heard that grinder. Scared me - big time.....
Not all Starbucks are created equal, lol.
