Drudge Wierdness? (vanity)
Posted on 12/12/2004 6:12:56 AM PST by Kerfuffle
Have any other users had serious tech issues when going to the Drudge Report lately? I've long had a problem with aggressive popups there, but this weekend when I hit his site, it literally crashes my computer, blue screen of death and all. Anyone else have this problem?

My firewall crackles with nuked popups every time I try to access Drudge. Its like watching bugs on a windshield. I don't even bother any more.

I don't have that problem since I went to the Firefox. You may have been infected with lots of spyware. I suggest that go to www.komando.com website. She is a computer geek for everybody. There are lots of links for FREE software to fix problems. Then go get the Firefox.

Download a pop up blocker, they are great!

I just went to his site, but then I reject all of his cookies, have Spy-bot running, and have pop-up blocker on. I run Win XP and used Firefox. Nope, no problem.

Same here, don't even go there anymore. With a rural connection speed somewhere between smoke signals and Morse code, all that extra junk makes it too slow even if I wanted to.

I'm more upset at the recent pop-ups coming at me in FreeRepublic.com
What the hell is going on? Aren't 4 fundraisers per annum sufficient?

Get off your internet exploder addiction and download Mozilla Firefox for your web browser. It is a simple 1-2-3 download and setup.

Yes. Even with a pop up blocker my computer still goes into slow motion. I never go there now unless there is a story I really want to see. Drudge is just hurt himself with this. I can understand the desire to make money and have no problem with it. As it is now the amount of pop ups are ridiculous.

I'm more upset at the recent pop-ups coming at me in FreeRepublic.com I doubt that FR has any pop-ups. At least they don't show on my system.

What is the URL for Drudge? When I set up my new computer, I lost a lot of bookmarks. If you can, please let me know what his address it.

Well the top frame of the ads say "microsoft explorer...", but they are coming up randomly ala DrudgeReport style.
Have seen Sony Vaio and Singular phones in the last minute.

I agree. I rarely go to Drudge anymore.
If something big is put up, the story will appear in minutes here at FR anyways.

I'm well set up with a popup blocker, and run my antispyware program religiously. But when I go to Druge now, it's as if he has some sort of a kamakaze popup that, if it can't get in, smashes your OS to bits. I suppose I should blame Bill Gates, but then, I blame him for everything the way Dems blame Dubya.

You have spy ware on your computer. There are no popups on Free Republic.
