The war in Iraq should have been against Baathist not Saddam Hussein

The main problem that I have with the way that the war in Iraq has been fought is that there was to much emphasis on Sadam and not enough on the Baathist party that was the real power behind his dictatorship and the dictatorship in Siria. While Hitler was our enemy we fought a war against Nazism and Fascism. If we did the same in Iraq I think it might have worked out better.

You attempt to personify the regime for propaganda purposes. It was used in Germany and Japan too. The emphasis may have been conveyed through the media, but the meat and potatoes was the Fedayeen, Republican Guard and the Baath Party. What was "Shock and Awe" against? All of those.

But I don't think that we dealt with the Baathist party in the proper way after we defeated the army. We should have went after them more aggressively.
No, we needed a lot more troops...

More troops is not the answer. We are not a occupying force so it would just mean more targets for the insurgents. I think that our troops should be used more as a rapid reaction force that swoops in when the Iraqis troops are overwhelmed or when there is an area that has been identified as a insurgent strong hold.

Actually we were too strong (what some say) by refusing to reinstate them to their employment. Bremer led that fight. There were way too many Party members. IIRC we allowed them to recant allegiance (or something) to get back to work.

I have read many an article that ties the Baathist's and Radical Islam with the Nazi/Fascism movements.

I fully support Bush and what he is doing but there is nothing wrong with recognizing that something might have not been done in the best way and pointing it out. It might help when time comes to invade Syria.
