Ok here goes with my dopey holiday vanity question ...
My wife and I have a bet on this.
Does it take more electricity to steadily light a string of standard little white Christmas lights than to light the same string set to twinkle?

Twinkling uses less energy, But I'd rather have steady (wink, wink) any day.

How many FReepers does it take to screw up a light bulb question?
To: PackerBoy
Only one way to find out. Turn off everything, and I mean everything, in the house but one strand of lights. Monitor the meter ( might take a week to get a reading ).
Do this once with the twinkles and once with the steadys.
Report back to us in January and let us know the answer.

amps x watts squared x volts x electrons squared x volts divided by two x amps divided by the sum of watts squared x the absolute sum of 110v divided by the sum of ZOT!® = your electric bill.
Just pay the damned thing, will ya? Or we'll cut-off your power, Citizen!
Any questions?

Does it take more electricity to steadily light a string of standard little white Christmas lights than to light the same string set to twinkle? What do you mean? African or European lights?

Twinklers are a dangerous hazard. Santa was electrocuted trying to string some.

No, you got it all wrong.
They need to just stand at the breaker panel and flick the main on and off maybe every 2 seconds. They'll save on the total light bill that way.
I hope their lights ain't chasers....

The steadys are cheaper (no constant power surges) but the twinkies are prettier.
Leave the steadys on and just blink your eyes rapidly when looking at the lights...this way you enjoy both and save money.

I'm not sure about the lights, but Clay Aiken's Christmas CD is very good.
