I hope that no-one ever has this discussion about Johnny D's. And I'll work to make sure that doesn't happen.

On a happier note, I received from the RNC today a fantastic calendar, with 12 great pictures of the President, and some with the First Lady as well.
I will refrain from hanging it until after Christmas, as I am certain my democrat relatives would turn to stone should they see it. HA!
To: Miss Marple
Display it now. Stone figurines would look great in a garden.
Just kidding. I admire your diplomacy. We were able to get through Thanksgiving w/o upsetting our liberal relatives or being upset by them. At least we think so. But it was close.
We did not tell them about JT joining the army. I thought that was one hurdle which could wait.

I am in charge of Christmas Eve for 30 people. The best I can do is my patriotic tree, which has ornaments like flags, NYPD policemen, minutemen, and A very small red, white and blue map of Texas. I display my Bush/Cheney button on it as well, but it is in the back and not easily visible.
As the oldest daughter, I am the one with responsibility to show others how to behave. Therefore, I do not beat them about the head anad shoulders with my politics.
It is very hard, sometimes, being noble. LOL!

I know what that's like as both of my parents are deceased and my brother died last summer. Holidays can be tough sometimes.I'm so sorry for you losses as well. I miss my daddy so much, but try to think of the good times, and my blessings. Sometimes it's difficult though, as I'm sure you well know.

My closest friend lost her father this morning. He lived just one month short of his 92nd birthday. I'd appreciate your prayers for his bride of 66 years, Anne, and the rest of the family.

My niece, and her hubby had a $100.00 gift certificate from Outback, compliments of the firm he works for, since they couldn't make the trip to Florida for the company Christmas party where the corp. offices are located. They had a horrible experience, and left without even being served.
Long story short, they were very patient until they waited for over an hour, after being promised a table in 30 minutes. They finally reached the boiling point, and then asked to speak to the manager. He was virtually ambivalent about their complaint, and unapologetic as well. Suffice it to say, they won't get their business again, or most of my family members either, after hearing about what should have been a special night out for them.
It seems some of these restaurants aren't much worried about repeat customers, obviously.

Prayers offered, ACR. No matter how long a parent lives, when they depart there is an empty spot that only the Lord can heal.
To: A Citizen Reporter
Prayers said. Two of my grandparents lived until they were 92, I was so proud of them both.

Unfortunately I think you're right about that. Amazing for people in the service business but then I never understand why retailers make their customers, who are wanting to pay them money, stand in long lines at checkouts.
I'm starting to yawn so guess I'll cash it in. Night all.

Thank you. This is one of the sweetest and most generous families that I've ever met. They held me up, when I lost my parents, and although this man had been ailing and in a nursing home for over a year, this has come as a shock. He went very peacefully during the night, and he had just seen ALL of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, his remaining sisters who all live scattered across the states. They are all now in the process of returning. And Anne just can't believe that he won't be here for Christmas.
To: A Citizen Reporter
I still can't believe my grandfather and dad won't be here...and they have been gone several years.
Going to bed shortly. Good night, and blessings on all who mourn.

I'd appreciate your prayers for his bride of 66 years, Anne, and the rest of the family.Consider it done.
My mom and daddy celebrated their 59th anniversary in his hospital room. He passed peacefully in his home about a month later. I miss him so, and the thought of my first Christmas without my daddy is almost unbearable.
I'll say a special prayer tonight for Anne and the rest of her family, for strength to get through the rough times....as there will be many.

Good morning. I'm up and I see that LD has returned from her successful trip to Hotlanta and the Georgia Dome. I also see that my "e" key is STILL causing trouble.
AND AUBURN STILL IS THE SEC CHAMPS! WAR EAGLE!
