Hollywood mega star Mel Gibson is considering buying a Fijian island.
The Australian Herald Sun paper reports that the Aussie-raised Gibson had been flown by helicopter to Mago Island which is on the market.
The Fiji Times reported first on Gibson's foray into island adventure. No doubt Mel is looking for a place as far away as possible from Hollywood's p.c. crowd.
Gibson could not be contacted for comment and was said to be staying with his family on an estate nearby.
Mago Island's asking price is $19 million.
It was described as having pristine ecology and terrain, rises to 500 feet on its eastern cliffs and fringed entirely by reefs, powder white beaches and turquoise lagoons.
Lots of tourists fly and cruise to Fiji every year, and Qantas and Air New Zealand have regular service there. Gibson will probably need a big ocean-going yacht or two to get from the airport to his island, ferry supplies back and forth, etc.
You got that right! What a gorgeous place!!
He's going there for religious freedom.
He can't as I am going to win it in the Capial One contest!
Or, just pave a landing strip down the middle of it... ;)
OOps, that would be Capital One

If he can find a surplus S**thook on the used helicopter market, he wouldn't even need a strip :)
If I just had a winning lotto ticket I'd by the place in a heartbeat!

Didn't Mel make "The Bounty" in or around there?

Taxpayers to King Mel or or a needy populace to support?
