Mel Gibson May Buy Fiji Island
Newsmax ^ | Dec 2nd, 2004

Hollywood mega star Mel Gibson is considering buying a Fijian island.

The Australian Herald Sun paper reports that the Aussie-raised Gibson had been flown by helicopter to Mago Island which is on the market.

The Fiji Times reported first on Gibson's foray into island adventure. No doubt Mel is looking for a place as far away as possible from Hollywood's p.c. crowd.

Gibson could not be contacted for comment and was said to be staying with his family on an estate nearby.

Mago Island's asking price is $19 million.

It was described as having pristine ecology and terrain, rises to 500 feet on its eastern cliffs and fringed entirely by reefs, powder white beaches and turquoise lagoons.

It's not the price of the island, it's the cost to get there that hurts.

Mel needs to make a movie about the Christian Knights of Malta who defended the Island from the muslim horde of 30,000 ottoman turks in 1565. The book is called The Great Siege, by Ernle Bradford, and its my favorite. It would make an AMAZING MOVIE!
