There are so many things that make FR great. It's my favorite place on the Internet and I am proud to support it financially.
However, there are a few things that have been getting under my skin too.
- Jokes about the "72 virgins" every time there is news of a Muslim terrorist being killed. Please. Over the last three years, every possible variation of the virgins joke has already been done. Hundreds of times. It is far, far beyond cliché by now.
- Jokes about spitting one's food or drink on the screen or keyboard, in response to someone else's humorous post. Again, every possible variation has appeared here a hundred or a thousand times over. I dare say 99.99% of them are exaggerations for comic effect. It's getting almost as banal as the virgins.
- FR slang (beeber, moose, cheese, hugh, series) in every thread, to no effect at all. At least donate to Jim if you are going to waste everyone's bandwidth like this.
- Over-zealous moderators who zap cross-posts from DU as soon as they appear. Prime opportunities for hilarity, gloating, and schadenfreude, especially after they lose an election, are lost forever. Can we assess these individually on the basis of their merits?

Yah. Use to live there myself. Hated it.... Rained every day for four months once. Then we got a hard freeze. I figured the inhabitants would slaughter a lamb to the rain god or something....

I hate it when they ban someone, the geeks sit around and run the thread up to 182472988 posts mocking someone that's already gone and can't respond. To much time on their hands.

My biggest pet peeve is when a thread is going and several people are on it and it's into the 100s of posts and then some guy comes along and posts something that no one is interested in.

For me it depends on the length of the thread. Sometimes I will read a really long thread and get caught up before posting. If it is a "real time" event (commentary on the Oscars or debates), then such effort is not necessary.
Some lengthy threads get new "recruits" pinged by freepmail to defend a losing position and none of them read the arguments that have already been laid out. It is on these threads that I repeatedly have to offer "proof" of my statements only to have the argument move on to another subject (statement proven, an hour's web search/editing etc, and statement is thusly ignored).

No,not "doo",but "duub".And remember, the accent is ALWAYS on the first syllable in Hungarian.
To: Howlin
Yes, the famous "whocares" keyword. Certainly they did at least enough to click open the thread and modify the keywords.
