There are so many things that make FR great. It's my favorite place on the Internet and I am proud to support it financially.
However, there are a few things that have been getting under my skin too.
- Jokes about the "72 virgins" every time there is news of a Muslim terrorist being killed. Please. Over the last three years, every possible variation of the virgins joke has already been done. Hundreds of times. It is far, far beyond cliché by now.
- Jokes about spitting one's food or drink on the screen or keyboard, in response to someone else's humorous post. Again, every possible variation has appeared here a hundred or a thousand times over. I dare say 99.99% of them are exaggerations for comic effect. It's getting almost as banal as the virgins.
- FR slang (beeber, moose, cheese, hugh, series) in every thread, to no effect at all. At least donate to Jim if you are going to waste everyone's bandwidth like this.
- Over-zealous moderators who zap cross-posts from DU as soon as they appear. Prime opportunities for hilarity, gloating, and schadenfreude, especially after they lose an election, are lost forever. Can we assess these individually on the basis of their merits?

I don't think it has to mean anything, I just dislike longtime, seemingly respected posters getting attacked by newbies. If nothing else, I think longevity should bring some benefit of the doubt with it. You disagree? Longevity means nothing. Look at all these career politicos. They longer they are in, the worse it is for all of us. Bring in the new blood!

Hi! Did you ever find the correct spelling for Duboush Torte?

I hate that.
Attention all NEWBIES: we are NOT a blog, period.
And the next thing I hate is people going onto threads and typing
"Why on earth is anybody interested in this?" or "Why does this crap keep getting posted?"
If they're not interested, why bother?????

And sometimes I do read it to the end (when it's still short) and no one has made the comment I want to make. I post (sometimes editing it a lot) and I find that when I post it, in the interval between when I started composing a reply and when I hit the "post" button, someone else has already gotten in and said it already.

I really like vanities. Although they should not be allowed to overrun the forum, about 10% of them would seem a good compromise at this point.
Some of the best threads are vanities.

I found it on the Internet under "Dobosh", I believe. Is it pronounced "Doo-baash"? That is how father-in-law says it.

I respectfully disagree. I've seen many hundreds of your posts, and although you might be a crackpot sometimes, I'd always defend ya against someone who joined in September. Unless, of course, it looked like you'd gone off the deep end.

Posters who post the exact same thing (word for word) that someone posted 2 minutes before. Not really a peeve, but I think these people must have short term memory problems.

Hi! Did you ever find the correct spelling for Duboush Torte? Spelling police. When all else fails, they go after punctuation, grammar and spelling.

A source isn't automatically credible just because it has SOME decent information on it.
Don't misunderstand me, I like some of the content on World Net Daily. But it's just too much like a conservative tabloid to put a lot of stock in the stories it presents without looking for verification from another source - and then the news might as well come from that other source.

Most vanities don't bother me too much .. but when there are 20 threads on the same topic .. that gets a bit too much
