You are dumb... You got a form of spyware on your computer that will do that to virtually every website that you go to... It's not just on free republic... You can try to get rid of it with ad aware but it's not 100% reliable...

That does sound like Ad ware, but it's not FR doing it. You should download AD-AWARE and run it. Sounds like you may have something, but I don't think you picked it up here.

underlined in brown and they link to ads. You've been infected. Clean up that PC. Do a search on FR for the word 'spyware' or search through the chat section for various threads that have copius links to freeware to do the job for you.

Check your keyboard.

I have wondered about this myself. I seem to pick up "My Search" spyware every day, and FR is one of the few sites I visit every day.
I can eliminate "My Search" easily with Spybot Search and Destroy, still I prefer not to get any spyware at all.
I won't visit the Drudge Report or some other sites 'cause they seem to be loaded up with spyware.

Did you immunize your computer?
You can and should do that too, then Spybot S&D keeps spyware from downloading.
You should also get Spywareblaster, which is recommended by Spybot, to provide additional immunizations.

Download Ad-Aware from
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/
If you're using Microsoft Internet Explorer, STOP. Try:
Mozilla or Firefox from
Mozilla.org
And/or:
Off By One
I very much doubt the problem is with Free Republic.

I have and it is clean until I come to FR. After I have been here for a few minutes, I have to go back clean it up again. Some Adware can reinstall itself from your start up files in your registry. Go get SPYBOT.
