A Texas man has been sentenced to four years in prison for posing as a gynecologist (search) with an office in a self-storage complex.
Authorities in Dallas launched an undercover investigation after seeing an ad in a weekly newspaper offering free medical care. A prosecutor set up the undercover sting with an investigator posing as a patient and using a hidden camera.
They say Thomas Remo wore a scrub shirt and had some medical equipment in the small kitchen of the storage facility office where he worked.

I'd love to know where the patients got the referal, that's going to be a whole story in itself.

I would have liked to heard the conversation on how they decided down at the station who was going to go in 'undercover'? LMAO!

After Remo's arrest in September, authorities got calls from women who said they were victims, but did not want their identities revealed in court records. Yeah, I guess if I fell for that line, I wouldn't want to talk about it, either.

What chick would be dumb enough to get a 'free' gyno in a storage shed?Let's see--Kerry got over 55 million votes, and was doing better among women. So, I calculate that there are close to 30 million American women who might fall for a prank like this.

I've actually been wondering about this story. Didn't this guy advertise in a fetish magazine? My guess is that the guy's defense will be that he was just "role playing" and that he thought, given where he advertised, that the women were in on it.

A prosecutor set up the undercover sting with an investigator posing as a patient and using a hidden camera. If you're trying to catch a phony gynecologist, where's the best place to hide the camera?

Hold on, the gyno's name was Thomas Remo? And let me guess, his first patients name was Doloris. A slick profession to keep your hands on.

You'd be surprised how daft women get if they think you're doctor. One of my credit cards has "Dr" printed on it instead of "Mr" by mistake & it's remarkable how many female cashiers & suchlike go all "funny" when when they see it.
I've not been asked to perform any medical services but I have had to explain that I'm not in fact a medic on a few occasions when someone starts telling me their symptoms etc, etc.
