I loved that movie! As a former model airplane hobbyist, I loved the line "But the principles are the same!"

Good. Hope it dies on the vine.

I've seen previews for this, so it is getting some promotions. Looks terrible though, the good news is it will hopefully inspire them to release the original on DVD (much like the Oceans 11 remake did). That's about the best you can hope for these days from remakes, they make it easier to buy the original.

Characters have been "updated for relevancy." That should probably read "irrelevancy".

Too bad. I loved the original and was looking forward to the remake.
I guess Oliver Stone must have been involved.

I think this kind of marketing killed 'The Alamo' before it opened. It turned out to be a better film than it was promoted to be.

Characters have been "updated for relevancy." We need a gay African-American handicapped Communist female for diversity! SOMEBODY FIND ME A GAY AFRICAN-AMERICAN HANDICAPPED COMMUNIST FEMALE!

Oh... almost forgot. The remake also changes the plot line to make it about an evil oil company that goes around the world throwing people out of work and raping the environment for profit.
Hollywood morons.

they have released the original on DVD, i watched with with my father about a month ago and adore that movie now, if this remake turns out half as good ill be impressed, just looks like their relying on alot of special effects

It's already been made, starring Dennis Quaid and a bunch of whodats. Made, yes. Released, no. And I love the list of "uncredited actors." How bad can it be that the actors don't want to be named??

Ditto this one.
I wouldn't watch George Clooney for money.
He's a far cry talent from Rosemary

Here is another bad idea from Hollywood. There was no reason to remake this film. I remember seeing this movie as a kid and back then thought it was a great adventure movie.
As an adult I still catch the original once in a great while but having seen the promos for the new film I just have no desire to see it.
Some films lend themselves to remakes and a great many don't. In our advanced technological age this film doesn't warrant a remake as with GPS, etc. these people could be found without resorting to the main plot idea.
So I predict another big bomb in the making here.

Got the original on DVD. No sense in a any remake. Don't need explosions, computer generated FX...nothing. Leave the story ALONE!

Hi, pabiance: Re-makes as a rule bite. Classic films are of a time and place that make them memorable for years and years. Making them popular. With great acting, writing and direction. Remakes by nature would entail different directors, writers, cast and crew. Ruining a classic to the point where the only resemblance would be in the film's title... Jack.

If "The ALamo" turned out better than it was promoted, the promotions must have been pretty durn BAD!! (I never saw them).
I watched that revisionist POS movie-They sure downplayed the cowardice of the Mexican Army and Santa Ana. They didn't tell about the measley 18 minutes it took to overthrow the Meexicans whenthey were not fighting at 100 to 1 ratio and made it look less than tactical when help did not immediately arrive for those at the Alamo. It was HORRIBLE!!! Very Hollywood.
