As other players scuffled, a fan threw a water bottle at Artest's head. Actually it was a paper cup, and the amount water (or beer) that it contained was negligible. ......and it bounced harmlessly off Artest's chest.
That was enough to set the nutcase off, unfortunately.

The NBA IS a circus act. Every night we see even stranger freaks of nature exhibit even more bizarre behaviors and then demand even more amounts of money while demanding even more "respect".
Not the basketball of the 60's and 70's, when they called traveling as a penalty and not a junket to Vegas......

What was the deal with him lying prone on the scorer's table during the fight?

I am a (former?)Pacers fan but cannot defend the actions of these hoodlums. No matter what David Stern does, IMO it won't be severe enough.

I'll wager there are arrests, and convictions. This one got too much press for these A-holes to get away with it this time.
I hope they jail time.

Do you think that they'll extradite these guys to Michigan to face trial? I suspect that they'll work something out to keep it from going to trial.

I thought it was pretty funny. The fan got what he deserved for once.

Okay, do we see you in the news footage? What color shirt were you wearing?

whoops, I was having the same conversation on another thread. accidently pinged you to this thread!
my bad.
But yes, I think they will press charges, and order at least Artest to stand trial in Michigan.
At the very least, Artest is done for the NBA. For good.

Okay, do we see you in the news footage? What color shirt were you wearing? Me? No. "Live Witness" added to title refers to the author's statement:
"Then Artest jumped up and ran into the stands with fists flying. He got there so fast, he almost knocked me over before I knew he was there."

Hopefully the fan(s) will also be charged, tried and convicted. Although I'm sure they'll get a ton of money in an out of court settlement, they still deserve to be punished criminally.

The fans should be treated however the authorities usually treat fans who throw something onto the court or run onto the court during play. The fans should receive a fine, but I don't see any point in them doing jail time either. Nothing in this mess is worth the taxpayers having to pay for a full trial.

Clearly they're guilty of assault and/or battery for throwing the beer and fighting with the players. The law should be brought down and brought down HARD on the fans.
