Any suggestions on which rivalry should replace it? Or comment on why it should be on the list?
State Sucks Go Blue (applies to both MSU and OSU)
11. Montana vs. Montana State
They may not be top flight teams and the national championship hasn't rested on the outcome in dacades, but in terms of the rivalry, there is no other that can touch Army/Navy.
What a crock! There is no way Texas vs. Texas A&M doesn't belong on that list before several that are on there.
OU-Texas should be behind only Army-Navy, maybe Ohio State-Michigan, IMHO. Also, Michigan-Notre Dame should be SOMEWHERE in the top 5!
Notice that only Army-Navy is very close. In every other rivalry, the dominant team has been the winner in at least 58% of the games, not including the ties. Of course, in the greatest "rivalry," the Red Sox World Series title cuts the Yankees edge in that regard to 26-1 since 1918.
Oregon vs Oregon State.
Not that anyone cares nationally, but it is either the longest, or second longest (at 108 years) running rivalry in NCAA Football, would have been 109 year except they canceled for a year after rioting broke out in 1910.
Miami-Florida St? Give me a break. It takes more than 20 years of competitive football to make a "great" rivalry.
I am impartial to TX-OU. State fair... Neutral site, 3 hours from each campus... Cotton Bowl-1/2 burnt orange, 1/2 crimson n' cream
Actually, it hasn't been all that great about the last 5 years. Just wait until next year, next year is the year...
Oklahoma may trail Texas in overall wins but since President Bush started running officially for President in 2000 and now has been reelected, the Sooners have won five straight. Thank you Mr. President!
While not powerhouse teams, Purdue/Indiana blows most of these away as true rivals.
Michigan State-Michigan - An all Sports rivalry. Football, basketball, hockey. No matter what, it's big.
In the past 5 years, two coaches lost their job in large part because of losing bad to the other team.
Michigan State's Bobby Williams in football.
Michigan's Brian Ellerbe in basketball.
Why is U$C-Notre Dame in there? To me a real rivalry should at least be between teams geographically close, or at least in the same conference. I don't think these teams even play each other in any sport besides football.
12. Missouri vs. Kansas -The Border War
What about Texas vs. Texas A&M?
2. Miami (FL) vs. Florida State
3. Alabama vs. Auburn
4. Army vs. Navy
5. Oklahoma vs. Texas
6. Notre Dame vs. USC
7. Florida vs. Georgia
8. UCLA vs. USC
9. California vs. Stanford
10. Florida vs. Florida State
I live in Alabama. But I am not a native. The Auburn and Alabama rivalry is humorous to me. People who didnt even graduate from HS (much less have gone to school at Auburn or Alabama) are some of their most die-hard fans.
