I need a geography refresher. How close to Naples is this? I presume you're South of Naples, accross from Sannibel, etc.

That would work, Gran. Next year you could dig them up and repot them. :)Unless they get too big.

LOL. She'd divorce us all!

Oh no..we're north of Naples.. Good grief, there is one place I would never consider living in. It is gorgeous, but an abslolute madhouse..
We are just north of Sanibel. The canals come out to the river and the area above Sanibel.

I did see the picture's of Gran's new house! It's beautiful!
The granite I've picked out is called Sea Silver Green. Just a hint of green in it. Right now, I was looking at some pale green glass tiles with smaller decorative tiles interspersed for the back splashes, but haven't really decided. There is so much to choose from. When I get it done, I'll post photos. I'm still thrilled with my gas range, and I've been using it for months. My husband is also going to do the floor. Probably the same travertine that we put in the bathrooms upstairs. I look the look of it, and it's not difficult to install. I am considering putting smaller granite tiles interspersed with the travertine to add some pattern to it.

We're ripping it up and putting in rosewood floors in the dining room and living room, but that installation isn't actually going to begin until January. What's going on the floor?
Real Rosewood would cost more than most cars.

It sounds beautiful. I like the glass tiles too. I have them in one bathroom and I want more. Easy care, good look.

Wow, good to see you and what a great post. :) It sounds like you're going to have a relaxing, no-fuss Thanksgiving. Thats wonderful.
I can't wait to see photos of your new rosewood flooring. I really like that and I just love the look of granite counter tops, I'm a little partial to the black ones and depending on the cabinet finish brown is mighty handsome, too. Have you decided on the color yet ?
You missed our discussion yesterday about the merits of plantaion shutters, but we all agreed, we loved them :)

Whew.. I am trying to talk to my daughter on IM and keep up with the thread.. I am not doing too well...lol lol
I have to come up with answers for some deck plants. Although that garden will take the sting off.

This week I'm order plantation shutters for the living room and dining room so I can finally tear down the horrendously hideous drapes that were there when we moved in. And, they attrack cat hair like you wouldn't believe. At least shutters will be easier to clean. For sure! We are so happy with ours. Indestructible even when beasts attack.

Hm. It's labelled rosewood. Looks rosy. I believed them. We haven't ordered the materials yet. It's not a composite, I know that for sure. Solid plank. And it was a little more than $7/square foot (not including installation - we have a family member in the business who will do the work at "family" prices). so, beats me. i'll call up my bro-in-law and see what he thinks.

Yes, I picked out some grantite - not black, but lighter, with a green cast. My kitchen is too small for black, and I don't want really dark colors in it. The color I chose will also look great with the new stainless steel appliances. I'll take a digital shot of the sample granite tile I have and post it later, if you want. I can't do it right now. I'm not taking any photos of my kitchen right now, either. It's still a semi-disaster. And floor is hideous - the existing vinyl is worn out and needs replacing. The cabinets are OK - they're oak, and I've got somebody lined up to clean them up and restain them if necessary.
