As a homeschooled individual, I think that the issue itself should be more publicized.

That video is amazing too! Me and my kids watched it half a dozen times the other day! It looks like a substation burning and then blowing up. Pretty impressive!

OK, now I'm bored, so I'm gonna play with the keywords. Anyone want to join me?
To: dakra
I've seen both sides of homeschooling from a couple of my high school friends. One came out a genius, the other an idiot(like 16yo with a 3rd grade reading level). There definitely needs to accountability in home schooling.

I don't care if homeschooling stories make the news or not. I've got nothing to hide. That said, you really are making many sweeping statements when you have only a narrow perspective on the subject. The great thing about homeschooling is that one family's failure is completely unrelated to other homeschoolers. If a public school is failing, it harms every child in the district. If a homeschool is failing, it harms the children of one family only.
The state has no right to regulate homeschooling since no public funds support it. In fact, it saves the gov't money. Standardized testing proves that the average homeschooled student actually does slightly better than the average public schooled student, so your alarm and accusations are unjustified.

We are old hacks at smelling liars. You are obviously a disgruntled public school employee, stuck in an under performing school and you feel that you would be getting more money if all those stupid homeschoolers didn't take their kids out of school. And, you also think that by posting a note here pretending to be a young kid you may fool us? You are truly pathetic.

I'm willing to wager that the troll was either a teenager, or just a homeschooled person from a leftist family. There are "some" leftist homeschoolers. We know a few, and they're allways whining for the government to wipe their backsides and give them special attention.
Leftists are leftists, whether they homeschool or not. At least they're easy to spot. :-)

Welcome to Free Republic.
How do you know that your education is "sub-standard"?
Could you cite some examples of where your education is lacking (other than the obvious grammar and spelling errors in your article)?
For example:
What is the highest level of math that you were taught?
How much math did you desire, beyond pre-algebra?
The easiest way to "expose" and "publicize" this "problem" would be for you to provide some specific examples of the shortcomings (i.e. dark side) you experienced.
I'm sure we would all be interested in hearing more, and might be able to provide you with further assistance in your quest for knowledge.

I have no problem with homeschooling at all. I think it's great if you can do it. But I must admit that I do get a little tired of the insults aimed at those who attend public schools.
My daughter is in eighth grade. She is currently taking Geometry. She has been recommended for the International Baccalaureate Program at the high school that she will attend next year. She can also take Advanced Placement courses in high school for college credits. She has also won several writing awards and her teachers have suggested that I submit some of her stories for publication.
My point is that not all public schools are bad. It depends on where you live and how involved the parents are.

Homeschooled?
I doubt it.
I've known homeschooled individuals who type better than Y'all.
