I saw Saving Private Ryan last night but I think Band of brothers is a better movie. Another great movie is a WWI flick (The lost battalion) Rick Schroeder gave an oddly convincing performance in that movie.

I gotta go with Great Escape, if just for Steve McQueen's performance as the Cooler King.

With no doubt, the best of all is the series The Band of Brothers. All else pale in comparison Savin Private Ryan is close.
By the way, in a Reuters raw footage clip of the Fallujah battle a Marine can be overheard yellin the F word as part of his admonition.
here It is a great clip. There is anotherone there with a Bradley on fire and the resulting turmoil to save it.

"A walk in the sun"
This film follows a platoon of American soldiers from the time they land in Europe until they complete their mission...capturing a German occupied farmhouse in World War Two Italy. The talented and diverse cast includes:Dana Andrews, John Ireland, Lloyd Bridges, George Tyne, Huntz Hall and Richard Conte. Kudos also to director Lewis Milestone.

Hey !
What about "Twelve O'Clock High" ?
A masterpiece. The greatest chewing out scene in the history of motion pictures.
